Tried watching that last night, managed about twenty minutes, not for me. I thought the plot and dialogue was really crummy. Sorry.
I was ready to quit at about the same time. It did improve, quite enjoyed it but maybe a bit shouty and overplayed. The algorithm telling the POTUS how she would die was the best gag.
Mr. Sandi and I watched McFarland, USA this evening and really liked it. I found it quite moving, heart warming, and inspirational. I ran cross-country and track (in California where this movie is set), so I might be a little biased. Kevin Costner is the lead and the movie is based on a true story. If you watch it, be sure to watch until the v-e-r-y end.
The Lost Daughter on Netflix. Awful. Olivia Colman must have just fancied a holiday on a Greek island whilst getting paid for it. Don’t waste your time. Dull dreary limited plot. {Wife’s choice….,}
Watched The Sisters Brothers last night on BBC2. Not a bad watch and should be on I-player. Nice bit near the end where the two brothers go to shoot their former boss (who they hate, as does everyone) only to find him laid to rest in a coffin. One of the brothers proceeds to......, well, watch the film.

Yeah, watched "the sisters brothers too" really enjoyed it, good cast with a bit of British thrown in (Rhys Ahmed) very off beat but good. If you get a chance, try to watch "Four Lions" Black comedy about UK Muslim terrorists who are hapless to say the least, the most radical being a ginger haired English convert, also with Rhys Ahmed.
I was out tonight, when I got home the mrs. told me about a film she watched… the Torvil and Dean thing! She’d really enjoyed it, was quite emotional that the bloke has had a hard upbringing or summat, and was carrying the damage from that all through their fame and popularity! It, of course, ended with the Bolero! It had made her evening. Sounds like I dodged a bullet there!!!
We watched this last night. It’s terrific! It seems a little slow paced at the start; I’d suggest sticking with it and enjoying the cinematography at first because it’s quite beautiful. At the end, though, I thought “Damn!” Don’t learn too much about this movie before you watch it.
Something about Jane Campion films, they seem to be kind of slow paced but draw you in. I must re-watch "The Piano" which is a fantastic film.
Just started the "Gallipoli" miniseries on Netflix. Shaping up to be pretty impressive. Fellow history buffs should find it pretty intriguing. I don't know how it got past me all this time, been out for 6 years. 7 or 8 episodes so it should give me some well needed distraction as the snow and sleet move through over the weekend.
Matrix Resurrections is just erm....just bad. He whispers all the way through which is really annoying and the fighting may as well be from a 70s Hong Kong Fooey B film. It was so complicated that I really couldn't be bothered to figure out what was going on. Good grief, I only watched it to the end to say that I did. Don't bother, really, don't.
Finished it in 2 rainy afternoons. Pretty good. Bounces back and forth between a squad of diggers and the Allied MEF Command. Doesn't paint a pretty picture of most MEF senior officers but then it was pretty much their fault the whole thing went pear-shaped, that, atrocious planning, and inadequate amphib technology. The film doesn't overdo the absolute Hell of WW1 graphically yet still includes enough brief, disturbing imagery to give the audience a genuine appreciation of just what an absolute horror show that war was. There are a couple jaw dropping depictions of trauma, so viewer beware. It's kind of like a mini-Band-of-Brothers with a more cerebral tone, similar to "The Thin Red Line." Technically it's pretty accurate. You have to be really paying attention to the minutia to find any discrepancies(I saw at least one Ishapore SMLE in the mix, Aussies used Lithgows). It's definitely one that I'll sit through again before too long. Hope I didn't give away too much.
