I thought it was,but it appears that the Prime Ministered has lied - yes I know, shocking isn't it????Apparently he forcibly re-opened one of the refineries, so their union is calling upon all the others (Ports, Air Traffic Controllers, Trains etc etc) for a General Strike. I really do dislike when unions hold the country to ransom and show no understanding of the realities of the situation. According to the news tonight, foreign investment in the following European countries has increased UK 12%; Germany 8% - and France? Minus 2% The employment laws and costs here are putting foreign investors off.
It's the 35 hour week and the 2 hour lunch breaks. How dare they suggest they reduce lunches sacre bleu !!!
In line with every other forum poll I've seen from Greyhounds, bikes, aircraft/flight related, papers comments, but still the TV/radio media predict a narrow win for the ins. It don't make sense.
I agree H.O. In reality the only choice we have is where to tick the box on the voting slip, the rest of what happens is in the hands of the government and probably pre-decided all along regardless of what ever so-called process is taking place. (just my opinion)
Just read that point from H.O. about not being able to holiday in Spain any more to the missus and she wasn't surprised at all about the young women's attitude, after having listened to the TV scare mongering about how holidaying would change forever and frightening people saying you wont be able to be covered for any kind of medical issues while abroad etc etc Its disgusting what's been said by so called intelligent people whom we all pay to sit in there offices of power, figures and information put across to deliberately scare people and deflect there free choice.
That was half ton's comment, but along the same lines 1 young bloke wants in because he thinks that mobile roaming fee's and texts will go up because the E.U. control it at present! Stupidity or what to put mobile phone bills above all else!! Just shows the mentality of future voters of thius country.
Thanks H.O. and my apologies to Half ton I quoted your reply under a different name !!! (to early to blame drink) but I'm sure we are all of the same opinion when it comes to that lot of lying politicians, and the shite they dish out daily !!
It's unbelievable what people believe about the EU ! I heard a woman say on TV last week that she was going to vote to stay in because the EU gives us so much money !!!!!! She wasn't a kid she was in her 60's.
If that's Canvey that would be to commemorate the 2 B17 Flying Fortresses that collided off Canvey during the war, I used to bait dig on one of the sites when I was a kid not knowing what it was. Often I picked up bullets and small bits, I'm pretty sure we found a gun but after about 45 years in salty mud we didn't recognize it. Grew up on Canvey from about 1958, loved it then when it was mainly fields & cows, police used to let us ride bikes and cars over on them, sadly watched it go down hill and get concreted over, now I wouldn't recommend it to any one. Saw both Southend pier fires, bag carried for the Shadows when they filmed at the 'Point', fished from the Lobster Smack to the Point, got my edukashion on it, had my first jobs at Tesco then Alpha Marine, built boats at Thames Marine and abandoned ship as soon as I was old enough to live ANY where but there. I had the best years that Canvey had to offer!
You couldn't make it up, they have now told Cameron to take a back seat and wheeled out............GORDON BROWN to take front stage!! My message to all of the remain camp...........
Well that's decided then. I do hope that the 'Leavers' will not turn out to regret or complain that they weren't told how bad it will get. Not overnight perhaps, but let's revisit this in 5 years times. However when you look at the stock markets (indicator of confidence) the early signs are not great.
What can you say. I'm surprised Wales voted to leave, very surprised. England was a foregone conclusion that they would vote leave. Another thing that doesn't surprise me is Sinn Féin calling for a referendum on a united Ireland. As to the UK leaving Europe I can see Scotland leaving the UK. All I can say to that is Alba gu bràth Saor Alba.
