I used to really enjoy riding at night, Wessa. And I still would except that our roads here in Tucson look about like that photo that @Octoberon posted. Mr. Sandi and I rode at night sometime last spring and we completely planned our route to and from our destination based on the road quality. It's a sad state of affairs.

 

Pretty much, I was looking for a friend but when I searched his screen name, turns out he was already a member (if you’ll excuse the double entendre), I thought “at least he’s taken himself in hand!”

 

Yep. Like many on the forum I have been riding and driving on UK roads for a long time and have seen them deteriorating during that time. There are many roads that used to be clean and new tarmac that were great to ride. Today they are best avoided. Lack the of investment me thinks

 

And only one dwarf in seven!

The local highways authority have just spent £2.8million building a roundabout on the A18, not far from me. It has already been described as an accident waiting to happen. Because you can see traffic on the minor road coming, people are accelerating onto the roundabout instead of slowing down and merging sensibly.
Just think how many potholes could have been filled in for £2.8million.
