Having been to Africa a couple of times when younger, and having pretty good contacts through work, I used to fancy doing a Kenya to RSA trip… but that’s well out of my system now… I do still like the idea of a New Zealand or Australian adventure, but that kind of distance and time investment would probably be too much for me and the Mrs… so we would consider them in a camper with maybe day/weekend bike hire… that would allow specific targeted sections… which may be a easier way of going about it?

I'd definitely like to see the TT up close and personal one year.

Bummer. You want to tell the whole forum who the company are. Then we can all and i mean all contact them and say we heard they don't refund or exchange dates and before we book we want assurances. Get some of the American family to slate them see how big they stay.

Norway is amazing especially when you get above the Arctic Circle. I’d love to do my Arctic trip again someday.

Cheers for that. All my motorhoming and bike touring is going to be strictly limited due to a new job I start next Monday, but please keep me in the loop.
Check out my YouTube videos of the trip (link below) to see what I mean about the scenery.

There so many great rides in the uk. Anywhere north, south east or west can provide fabulous touring routes. And Ireland both the north and republic will not disappoint, so you do not need to travel to far for a great tour.
Going further afield my bucket list includes getting down to Croatia and around that whole area, perhaps one day I will get around to getting a plan together.

Did a bit of bike touring in Croatia on my 900 Diversion ages ago. Lovely country. So many great trips to (re)do

I’d love to ride down to Turkey/Greece and take 3 to 4 weeks to do it but that will have to wait till I retire again ;)

There's a thread that's gone quiet but I have all sorts of ideas for the trip so it'll get revived at some point. One of those ideas is to get recommendations for bits of the route from people who are local, or who know regions from their own travels. Even better if they fancy travelling some of the route as well. :)

We haven't fixed any dates yet but it's possibly not going to be until next year, for various reasons.

Thanks for the links. I'll have a look at those videos later! I'm supposed to be working now.

I did that from Nottingham to Greece in the 1980's, down through what was then Yugoslavia. The Adriatic cost was beautiful and the roads (although they sometimes turned into no more than tracks) were fun. I mucked up on the return hoping to come back via the ferry to Brindisi and up through Italy, but it was fully booked when I tried from Greece. So I returned via the inland roads for a faster return to Vienna. Those roads were bad, people getting run off the road, abandoned burned out vehicles at the side of the road and quite a few accidents in progress. I guess it's all changed now and it would be interesting to revisit.

That Alaskan ride to the northern tip of the US video I posted a couple weeks ago got me thinking. It would be a while before I can ever put something like that together with the tremendous work load on the horizon for me, but I've never done the FL Keys to the southern tip on a bike before. Driven it… many times. Would be a far easier undertaking than AK and rolling through those islands is practically like traveling 100 miles across the ocean. I'm sure there's at least a couple/few people in here who've done it before given its popularity. Could maybe knock out Daytona and a Key West run on the same trip.

My lads hired me a Road King for a day on NZ south island. Enjoyed it, didn't drop the bike, could have made a fortune renting the seat to Chinese tourists taking selfies . The south island is as lovely a place as I've been :)

The old Yugoslav Zagreb to Belgrade road gets a mention in Elspeth Beard’s book “Lone Rider” as the road of death, carrying the bulk of traffic from Europe to Asia and back, the road was full of perilous drivers and littered with the crosses and memorials of it’s victims.

Yep, that's part of the road I was riding... interesting to hear it was infamous.

Did a fair amount of that road in the 90's but was perilous for a lot of other reasons back then :skull::bomb:
