    Well, it happened yesterday.
After much deliberation and debate, a group of 5 of us met in Leicester city centre and enjoyed a fantastic day, as per the title.
Our small group has done this for years, not last year though, of course,
We were as careful as we could be, starting the jollifications at midday when pubs were very quiet, stayed as distant as we reasonably could from other folk and remained in each boozer for a relatively short time before moving on.
The Indian restaurant was deserted apart from ourselves until we had finished up and a young family of 4 came in and sat down to eat.
A few more pubs, which couldn't be described as busy and then 2 of us non natives got the train home.
I was back home just before 8pm, very happy with the way things went, good company and full of good beer and grub!
I tested negative before I left the house yesterday and I've just tested negative again this morning.
We came so close to knocking it on the head this year, it was a difficult decision to go on with it, but so glad we did.

Nice one Curly, sounds like a great time was had by all. Obviously the establishments benefit from your patronage and were I’m sure glad to see you plus it’s good for personal mental health meeting up safely with friends and colleagues. Top stuff. Keep safe, have a good Christmas. :)

    Thanks Yorkshireman,
you know the feel good factor is perhaps even better today, on reflection, than it was yesterday!
It was almost like old times, not quite the same, but not far off.
I spent a small fortune, as did we all, but how we needed to do that!
Worth every single penny, I'm still buzzing

That’s almost exactly the story I have about yesterday. We have an annual meet-up that we missed last year, obviously. Gathered around our 2:30, did a tour of the pond and bars, which were quite empty, and ended up at a nice Indian. I suspect the government is holding off ‘ruining’ people’s Christmas as long as possible to avoid the backlash and the aggro from the minority who feel their liberty is being suppressed. (If people are worried about their liberty and freedom, perhaps they should look around at all the surveillance cameras instead of worrying about a small piece of fabric.)
