This year's bike show (www.motorcyclelive.co.uk) is just around the corner. I'm hoping a mid-week visit will make it easier to browse the stands and jump on a few bike, inlcuding perhaps the Tiger Sport 660

Who's going and what will you be looking out for this year?

Yep, I’m going to it. Took a day off work and looking forward to buy something else that I didn’t need or look for!
And I’m avoiding the Ducati stand….. Robbing barstewards etc…!

I have been every year for many years but I'm going to give it a miss this year. I have just bought a Street Twin and there is nothing in the clothing or bits line that I need!
That's not to say there's nothing I would like but there's nothing I need!!

There is another way of looking at it though. If condition of entry requires a mask u should actually be safer than pre today in theory. I must check I hope there is a requirement.

I know it's a poor excuse but it will cost me around £100 to attend even before buying anything! By the time you add the entry fee, the NEC's exorbitant parking charge, fuel and something to eat.

I've had my booster but still feel uneasy about being in an enclosed space with crowds of other people, such as the NEC!!

Me too. I want to go as this year as there is quite a lot I want to buy and try . But a lot of people under one roof at the moment does make me feel a little uneasy. But hey….we ride motorcycles and some would say that is way more risky…but I’M STILL SAT ON THE FENCE….:worried::mask::scream:

I agree riding a motorcycle is risky but it is a risk we can control to a large degree. None of us can control the people in the crowd who may be covid positive and asymptomatic.
I would love to go-- but not this year!!

Masks are recommended by the venue but not mandatory. They ask for some proof of vaccination (e.g. NHS Covid pass) or a recent negative test. They offer lateral flow tests for anyone unable to prove they're clear.

Down for a coupla nights. Our traditional night at Scruffy Murphys and the show the following day. A no show from Yamaha which is pish, R7/MT-10/Tracers etc. Will be jumping on everything else and of course furiously testing the forks up and down on the new Speed Twin.

Well just visited Motorcycle Live today, first off rip off entry fees and parking charges, there was a lack of the usual quality outlets selling merchandise, I guess a lot stayed away due to the huge fees charged by the NEC, on top of that the ones that where there had gear you could buy locally for a better deal, the only real exception was Abba Stands who had genuine show offers. On the plus side Triumph, Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Back Street Heroes had excellent stands among others, however Ducati only had a few machines on show, Yamaha and Aprilia stayed away despite having some exciting new models out. Covid restrictions where a complete joke, no social distancing whatsoever, hardly anyone wore masks, even the entrance and stand staff wearing a mask were in a minority. I thought after a 2 year absence it would have been really good, the reality was different. What really caught my eye was the re born BSA stand, the machines had a look of the old B33 but with up to date technology and engineering, they actually looked really good, I will think seriously about buying one when they come to full production, I think they will make for a real giggle to ride as an additional machine. Back to the NEC and I won't be going back anytime soon.

Oh what a disappointment been looking forward to it for ages, like to look for the merchandise and the new bikes......hopefully better next year if this virus dismisses but I'm not holding my breath having just cancelled a holiday to tenerife in Feb. Who would have expected this 2 years ago......hey ho let's get riding soon after this awful weather.

You might be cancelling more than the holiday in Tenerife if you don't remove the post code from your profile! ;)
