What was the 'last' year that Triumph made it's bikes with kick start mechanisms before they made electric starts standard with their bikes? [IMG]

Welcome to the family. Just a thought but it was probably about 1987 triumph's first 1200 trophy. Some of the more intellectual inmates will be along soon to correct me if wrong. What steed are you riding. Pray do let us all know.
    Joe.

I thought it was 1977 as a true kick start only machine on the Bonneville

Well my Bonnie was 78, T140V and it was kick-start only and so was the T140E after that in 1979, Meriden went tits up in I think 1983 . But i reckon the last ones with kickstarts would be the ones made by Les Harris in Newton Abbott from 1983 to 1988 under licence. The Hinckley Triumphs have never had kick-starts as far as I know.

Yes that what i think. He did want to fit electric but some clause banned him from using the electric foot.

Apparently the very last Triumph twin with a kickstart was built on the 9th of March 1988 by Les Harris.

I have a 1972 Triumph and it's kick only. My 1975 Norton 850 (last year imported into USA, I believe has an electric start ). But that doesn't answer your question, but I'll bet a donut the kick only went out in the later seventies. Good question however.
