Here's a few pics of my home town Blairgowrie which is a small town in Perthshire The river Ericht separates Blairgowrie and Rattray The war memorial in the wellmeadow in the centre of Blairgowrie View from the start of the High St from the high st down to the wellmeadow The beach hedges just outside Blairgowrie, the tallest and longest hedge in the world https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meikleour_Beech_Hedges
I recognize most of those areas Dougie and when I ride past the high hedge I know the great biking roads in the North of Scotland are only minutes away I'll not bother posting photo's of my home town.... me and the wife drove back through it an hour ago having been to Peebles for fish suppers and we just commented on what a $hithole it's become.
There's not to many empty shops in Blair (yet!),but the internet has definitely had a devastating effect on high streets throughout the country,it's sad to see.The government should really have put an extra tax for any business selling on line from the start, but i fear it's too late now , the high streets will be full of cafes, hairdressers and beauticians and anything else you can't buy online..glad I've only got another 5 years before i retire (hopefully!) that's my shop with the green awning
Very picturesque - need a big step ladder for that hedge! Here are a few of Winchester - originally the Roman town of Venta Belgarum. The High Street - possibly the oldest street in England. There have been no alterations to the street pattern since the 9th Century. The cathedral - major landmark and with the longest nave of any Gothic cathedral in Europe. (The interior was used to represent the Vatican shots in the Da Vinci Code film). The old mill in the centre of the city. Tudor buildings in the High Street My favourite pub!
Looks a nice town Dougie, I'll have to pay a visit. Steve, I liked Winchester, know it reasonably well, I used to bring my retired Greyhounds there collecting for the RGT only a few years back. I lived in Bath, havn't got pictures of it but I'll paint you a picture. RUINED!!!!!!!!!!Old Bath had the guts ripped out of it when the new centre was built, house prices sky high, council tax the same, nothing but shops you find any-where else, car parking extortionate, council only interested in cyclists, students and tourists! Not a place to live, could'nt wait to move back up here! Livingstone has been called 'The Basildon of Scotland', o.k. its got some bad area's but generally its o.k., our bit is quite sort after, and its in SCOTLAND!!!!!!!!! No intentions of moving again!
Cheers Bikerman, I was born in Bradford and have lived in Manchester, Aldershot, Reading, and Basingstoke so I think I deserve a break!
Born in York, have lived in Redcar, Yarm, Leeds, Sawtry in Cambridgeshire, Peterboro, Rushden, Bedford, Ringwood, New Milton, Marlow; Cuminestown, South Cushnie and Fyvie (all Aberdeenshire) Spalding, Northampton; Fresselines, La Cellette and soon Aigurande (all in France).
You've been around Dave ..you would need quite a few pages if you were putting photos up! So which place was your'e favorite ?
That a hard one to answer mate as there's been so many and we moved to improve our circumstances. If I had to pick one though it would be Fresselines as it was our first place in France and is really lovely. No it's not Steve it's very nice and the typical French small town, but you'll be able to judge for yourself when you come over. 5 bars, 2 Bakers, 3 garages, 2 camping grounds, a couple of supermarkets. In fact everything a growing boy needs.
