Hi there all, Just so happens that the connectivity module is now available for the speed triple rs 1050 and I’d noticed that the triumph app for iOS has been updated too for ios15….
I paid £250 for the module, fitting kit and installation in September 2020 on a new Street Triple RS, although it was part of the deal, it has been great from day 1 especially the GoPro function, that was the prime reason I bought it.
I’m hoping that it plays ball with the iPhone and bugs have been seen too. Update was for ios15 so it’s fingers crossed. I’ve only got a GoPro 3+ so no dice but I’m a sucker for tech (if it works of course!) Been hit and miss with people tbh
Yes It seems so, from memory there are only a couple of iPhone models compatible, I use an iPhone 7s and it seems to function excellent for me, I may be one of the lucky ones though.
I have a work iphone xr and a personal iphone 12. Tbh, i prefer the xr so i'm keeping the fingers crossed that all goes well. Do you happen to know if you can pair two phones by any chance?
Hope it works well for you, @Ducatitotriumph. I'll be curious to hear your review after you've connected it and used it a bit.
Hi @Sandi T I'll give you a 100% honest update as soon as. I just hope I don't get some of the woes that others have endured...
Hi there, It’s being installed on Saturday 13th nov so not sure yet. I’ll update this as to how it goes and if it actually works later in the day. All my bits are crossed that it’s not a waste of money tbh.
Let's hope so! Keeping my fingers crossed for you! A bit silly you gotta pay a fair bit of coin for it though...
I'd be more jacked off if i'd had to pay it on top of the asking price for a new speed rs 1200 though!
Wait... I thought the 1200 RS already came with it installed?? Man Im actually contemplating between the 1050 and the 1200 RS at the moment, depending on if I can get the 1200 for the price that I want.
Right, it’s installed…… What a faff to get an iPhone connection. I now have an iPhone XR and an iPhone 12 Pro Max (with beta 15.2 sw) installed and working btw. It took 3 of us (2 triumph technicians) 40 minutes to get sat nav working…, Instructions are simply shit. Do not install the bike on the app UNTIL you get the module done first and definitely use the “add by Bluetooth “ option! Problem with iPhones (with triumph app) is that it takes 2 Bluetooth connections to work. 1 for phone and music and 1 for sat nav. Pics below: It the second one that makes you not want to bother. We had to connect and disconnect about 20 times (seriously) and all of a sudden, it pared on the second connection to enable sat nav. Phone and music connection is fine and intercom system working perfectly, instantly. However, things are quite a bit different on the display now. Definitely for the worse imho…. Borderline not useable… Basically, you lose ALL of the current screen layouts and now get (I presume) the new street triple ones which are simply crappy. Pics below: You only get 4 btw. Rev counter is basically unreadable and fuel gauge isn’t on all of those. Satnav hung up on my way home and never re-established reconnection. To be fair, my iPhone on bt is always a crappy signal so not sure where that went wrong. Sw download took 2.5 hrs too. A few different menu choices too but all obvious. If you have a Samsung on android, it’s simple (apparently) as it’s actually a Samsung Bluetooth module that’s being used. I’ll give it time to hopefully gel on me but first impression is not encouraging. Just being totally honest chaps. Another also, you CANNOT go back to the previous sw after this update so be warned. I have an older interphone fmc3 intercom and music (and volume) all works fine. I’ve turned off the sms/phone call tab as I’m not interested in that. Module sits right near the rear usb socket under the seat btw. @Sandi T , all I can think of above!
Really sorry to read your woes with this. Technology shouldn’t be this hard in 2021! It does come as standard on the 1200RS, so you get it for free. When I got mine in August I found it very flakey - Lots of Bluetooth drop outs. I only use it for the satnav function. The bike had a software update at the first service and since then I have to say it’s been far more reliable. As said, I only use it for the nav function, and that works really well on the 1200 and is nicely integrated into the tft display, so overall I’m now happy with the system - after a very shaky start!
Hi there neal, The chap at the dealer said it's all on the latest sw so i'm hoping its just the initial connection woes. It is very quick to establish connection at switch on though. I suppose it's a case of getting used to it. I too bought it mainly for the satnav option as i'm not overly bothered about music and calls whilst riding. I just love the actual sound of riding (if that makes sense!?)
I to love the isolation of just riding the bike, I’m not interested in music or taking calls when on the bike. here’s a couple of (crappy) pictures of how the nav looks on the 1200 screen. You can have it displayed next to the normal circular tacho or you can have the tacho as a bar on the left of the display which frees up a larger section for the nav arrows and info.
Well, each to their own of course but for me it's just an utterly pointless waste of money, give me two analogue clocks any day. I'm certainly not anti-tech, I was in IT and comms for the last 20 years of my working life but I don't want it anywhere near my bikes or my car for that matter. A friend of mine has bought a new hybrid car and he's moaning that it keeps dropping it's WiFi connection. WTF!
Erk sorry to hear about your initial problems with it all, in saying that, provided with the opportunity once more, would you opt for the software update? Or would you be against it for the 1050 RS knowing what you know now.
