I thought I’d make a thread to share some pictures of some of my ride outs.

To get started some photos of a small ride I did a few weeks ago. I only had about an hour or two, so short solo ride.

Cool, looks like they brew some nice looking beers at the Abbey?

I have a small ride out planned for this Sunday, a little over 90km. Will stop to take some landmark pictures and off course I will update this thread! Not sure yet if the misses will tag along or if this will be another solo ride.

Had a long 400km ride last week, but completely forgot to take pictures. Was too busy chatting with my ride companions.

I had my 93Km ride out this morning. Another solo ride. With the wedding party last night the misses called me crazy to go before noon, let alone her tagging along.

I went to look at some castles in my local area, some I already knew, others I didn’t. There were a lot of nice winding roads with nice tarmac. Although the typical old concrete roads can’t be avoided in this area, always a test for any suspension. The route did pass along quite some fields and this time of year that means dirt on the road, so some tricky areas here and there. The scenery with the leaves coloring was particularly nice to see.

I didn’t count them, but I think I saw around 15 castles. I stopped to take pictures at some, but it was impossible to stop at all of them. For some of them it would have required to actually enter the domain to take a good picture. Due to the time of year not all domains where open. I suppose trespassing would be pretty punk, but trespassing with a motorcycle ain’t that easy. Some were just somebody’s home, so not accessible at all.

If someone is interested I can also post the actual route and some more info on the places I took the time to stop.

Today I went out for the last ride of the year. This morning when I took the car to the local bakery, the temperature was just 2.5 degrees Celsius. So I knew I was going to need to dress up for cold. The weather report was giving temperatures off up to 14 degrees today, but obviously in the morning we were quite far from those temperatures.

I went for a 123Km ride, I would have gone further, but I promised the misses to go with her to the shop for some decorations in the afternoon. So time was limited. Some of the pictures are lifted from the internet, I didn't have the time to stop everywhere and quite frankly it was so cold I preferred to keep my hands on the heated grips ;).

The first interesting sighting on the trip was the tower of Eben-Ezer. Although it is not far from home, I never passed by it before. It is not far from the Fortress of Eben-Emael (famous for it's part in WW2). 9b035b6ce4b34de362f010a0821f26f4.jpg

The road just up to the tower is not paved however and was quite muddy. I took a picture of the front of the bike when I got home, luckily the mud wa confined to the front of the bike.

From the tower the road took me to Voeren/Fourons. A part of Belgium that officially is part of the Flanders region, but geographically is actually in the Walloon Region. It even used to be the Netherlands at one point in time. There are some really nice roads for motorbiking in the area with some stunning views. At one point I was on top of a hill with a winding road going down to this castle. dji0334-1-1920x1440.jpg

Next up was beautiful industrial rail road bridge in the town of Moresnet. I don't think the town is famous for something, but I thought it was a nice bridge. 1200x900_photo-DEC-ALD0E000A3A-OTHA0002Y2GDN.jpg
I now passed in the Dutch speaking part of the country and the French speaking part, so on to the German speaking part. Here in the town of Welkenraedt - Henri-Chapelle there is cemetery and memorial for the American soldiers that fought in the Battle of The Bulge during World War 2. I have been there a few times in the past and it always takes my breath away, so many white crosses, so many crosses. So there I decided to make my only actual stop of the ride and take some pictures myself. IMG_1183.jpg
    IMG_1184.jpg IMG_1185.jpg

If you would like to know more, you can find more info here. https://www.abmc.gov/Henri-Chapelle

When I arrived back home I noticed all the mud and I had a look at the weather forecast for the coming week, trying to see if I can get the bike cleaned somewhere. Unfortunately the upcoming weather isn't looking good, so after I did my boyfriend duty, I took the bike back out and gave it a proper clean. I feared it would take some time, but the Muck-Off made short work of the mud. After putting it back into the garage I had a look at the calendar for the upcoming weeks and noticed that there wasn't going to be a lot more time for riding this year. Family obligations and the weather getting colder (and wetter) and I don't ride when there is salt on the road, so my riding season has officially ended. The bike is now almost entirely prepped for winter storage (and winter customizations ;)).

If you made it this far, thanks for reading.

Some lovely pictures there and beautiful sunshine - military cemeteries always take my breath away too, it's hard to comprehend such enormous losses.

Great read and a fab ride out too.
Those cemeteries take your breath away, I have been to many of them on the Somme where my grandfather is buried at Pozieres.
