I’ve long had an ambition to ride Europe top to bottom. That’s Nordkapp to Gibraltar for all those reaching for a map.
Chatting to a mate a few years ago about it he said, “I’m in!” before I’d even thought to ask. Now we’re finally starting to think about it more seriously.
Plan ‘A’ is to get the bikes to the northern tip of Norway for the start, which means shipping them rather than riding up then doubling back on ourselves. So, as planning is still at a fledgling stage, has anyone got any ideas or advice on how to ship our bikes, or any other thoughts?

    Brilliant idea!

5,500km the direct route but think a more meandering route to see some of the sights along the way would be good (if you have the time and funds).

How about doing a clockwise route through Europe:

    Denmark
    Germany
    Poland
    Slovakia
    Hungry
    Croatia
    Slovenia
    Austria
    Italy
    Switzerland
    France
    Spain
    Portugal and Gib

    It’s only a little bit further… ;):joy:

Edit: You many need to pack TWO pairs of underpants.!

Sounds like a great trip. Do keep us posted as to your travels and points of interest. There are a few places out there that ship bikes but not cheap.

Thanks, Joe. I’ll post developments here if people are interested. We have a few options, including breaking the trip in to two, north and south. The idea is to explore time and costs then decide which option to take.

Nope, the Multi has gone. Got a MV Agusta Superveloce 800 now along with the Street Triple. Neither ideal for this trip so I’ll probably get something more suited. Not sure what.

I am certainly looking forward to the write up. Sandi T does some fantastic write ups and it makes you feel you were there with her group and outstanding.

A brilliant idea, you'll have a great trip! As for transport, there are several options once you've got your bikes to Norway.

There are always the cargo companies like https://www.norlines.no/en/ , www.bring.no and others. Cheapest are from terminal to terminal, they get a lot more expensive if they need to pick up and deliver outside their terminals. They will be able to offer transport boxes or similar.

Then there are web portals where you can describe what you want and anybody with extra room in a van going in your direction can give you an offer. Could be a business, could be an individual. Could be good and cheap, could be expensive and bad - and everything in between. https://mittanbud.no/ claims to be the largest of these portals, another one is https://anbudstorget.no/ Let me know if you want language assistance if you go this route.

@Octoberon, Saul sounds a fantastic dream idea that should turn into reality. But… isn’t Norway part of ’Scandinavia’?

Wow Saul that sounds like a fantastic idea. You could get a trailer and get somebody to tow your bikes and transport the two of you to your start point. I would think that would be the cheapest option?

PS: it could also follow you as a support vehicle?
