Just joined, and looking forward to picking up my new 2016 Triumph Thruxton in black, on Friday next week. Initial extras include Café Racer fairing, Lowered clip-ons and heated grips. The Triumph wasn't even on my radar - i was about to get a Yamaha XSR900 - until 2 things happened. Firstly, my Mother sent me some old photos recently including one of my Grandfather sat on his BSA A7 parallel twin in 1948 looking 'cool as' and secondly, by chance getting to ride the Thruxton R at the MCN Festival. It was a proper emotional connection, helped by the fact the bike was exactly what I was looking for in terms of power and smoothness, but didn't really know until I rode it! Ordering an R would I've meant a 5 month wait, I preferred the black anyway and my riding ability has never really warranted Showa/Ohlins/Brembo! So I blew my budget by £2k over the Yam but went for the fairing instead of an R. Looking forward to a Summer of exploring the local countryside (fortunately it's the Cotswolds) on it and recreating the photo of my Grandfather, having found the exact street it was taken on in '48
Found a decent forum here, and a decent bike to ride too! I've owned many triumphs and they have all been good bikes. Pick my new S3 94R up tomorrow so sleeping tonite might be an issue! Enjoy ur bike. ATB Bob
Ade is right, black IS nice and no mistake.... But the faster, sexier and best handling bikes are yellow. It's proven physical fact... Light the blue touch paper, and stand WELL back... ATB Bob
Welcome in waffoo, what a great excuse to buy a brilliant bike but looking at those tyres surely you should be buying the scrambler! not a long wait either let's hope the weather is good for you.
Never can tell with our good old reliable weather, but fingers crossed. I'd already booked to go to the Bike Shed show in London on Saturday and Legoland with the family over the Bank Hol so it'll be sat in the garage for a few days anyway - and it always rains on a BH!

Picking it up Monday now! Popped into the dealers today for the last of the paperwork and took a few photos. Got to wait until the first service to get the fairing, lowered clip-ons and heated grips though - painted to order apparently. Straight away, think I need the stubby LED indicators!
no - hence moving the pick-up from Friday next week to Monday next week! Dealer said he hasn't sold any 'café racer' faired non-R Thruxtons, and I've not found a black faired one on Google yet. Potentially, creating quite a rare beastie!
it's the Cafe Racer fairing, like this one on the R. The handlebars are about 1.5ins lower as well, to avoid snagging the fairing. Still surprisingly comfortable - but then again I had a '92 GSX-R750 which was much lower again, so this is positively upright!
