Had a run out on the Scrambler this evening and called in to refuel on the way home, ready for the next run, as usual. Morrisons shut, no fuel. A major BP station barely a mile away, huge queues, I stopped counting at 27 vehicles so last call at an Esso station, close to home, which I don't normally use and never has queues and got some after a short wait. Also filled a 1ltr fuel bottle for the Coleman. Apparently it's been the same at many stations in Sheffield despite repeated calls for exactly the opposite. I got to thinking while putting the bike away, "we've had it, the human race is doomed" because when the shite even looks like getting anywhere near the fan it's everyone for themselves and fek everyone else.:worried:

I've just filled up. Local Tesco has been drunk dry, couldn't get in the other one as tailback went onto the main road, had to queue a little precariously at the local Texaco and fill up. At least I can now get to my job in Basildon at the weekend...: unamused:

Joking apart though, it is pretty incredible. I remember the great sugar crisis way back in the 70's, and nothing's changed. "There is no need to panic buy" is the perfect inducement for people to do exactly that. But we do live in a country where people have come to blows over shit roll, FFS. I just hope it doesn't precipitate a proper shortage, or I'm in trouble PDQ

Anytime now, lorry driving is going to be a well paid job again. All the immigrants are doing better on the dole, claiming for 10 kids they dont even have.

If you are stupid enough to watch that, you are stupid enough to believe the news. And that's what they are counting on.

The papers and media stir this shit. No one would have noticed if they hadn’t made it a front page item.

As soon as someone in the media tells the world there’s a shortage of air, the masses run around with balloons.

At least the media sold one extra news paper whilst everyone else suffers for their stupidity.

Fcuking pests. Who’s side are they on?

You know, there's a film called Idiocrasy. It's supposed to be a comedy but it's turning into a documentary.

I wish we were allowed to try to beat some sense into these half wits. I know it wouldn't work but I reckon it would make us feel better.

That kind of comment is unwelcome here.

I'll add "in my opinion" as there are clearly members who are happy to see such comments.

In fairness, the media simply quoted what Grant Shapps said, most likely as a result of a press release, which is where most of our "news" originates these days. For those in other countries, who may not know who Grant Shapps is, he's the Government's Transport Secretary. He's also the "brains" behind our bewildering traffic light system for foreign travel, but his main asset is he's no threat to Bojo, and therefore can join all the other numpties in the cabinet. :)

It never ceases to amaze me how stupid the great British people can be. Yes the press fuel the stupidity, but when did we ever believe anything that they report :mad:

I see what you did there ;)

Managed to fill the bike up today, after setting off at 7.15 and then queueing at my local Tesco for 45 minutes (the only petrol station with fuel for a bike with 12 miles-worth left in the tankl!). Much relieved as I want to get out for a while today.

Watched it years ago, in fact I think I've still got the DVD somewhere. You're right, it's getting worryingly near to reality as time goes by (as Dooley Wilson would have said) :)

No problem getting petrol locally, although all the diesel had sold out by mid morning yesterday.
At least we have twice as many nozzles to choose from when we get to the pumps!

As far as I'm aware this forum is open to all opinions.
Aren't there rules on how much fuel you can store at home ?
And isn't that amount quite small ?
    Anyone know ?
