    Hi all!

I’m pretty excited! I’ve been looking for a Daytona 900 for a little while now and have found one!

    She’s being delivered on Friday!

Can’t wait to get her and have a ride! She needs an MOT but don’t think there will be any issues there!

Will post some photos once she arrives!

    Wahoo!

    Matt

Just heard there is an accident on the A303. A motorcycle delivery van, has rolled over, and gone down an embankment. Hope he had the bike well tied down, :)

She’s not MOT’d but fortunately we live on a private road so had a little blast around the block!

Great score that, Matt - looks like a real cracker. What year is it, what's the mileage on it and, if you don't mind me asking, where did it come from?

I did miss your question earlier about the T300 range "ways" so apologise for that.

There are a few fairly common traits with these bikes - most notable being the well-known weakness in the starter sprag clutch system. You MUST avoid starting the bike with a less than fully charged battery if you want to avoid a failure of the sprag. They are also sensitive to changes to the fuel/air system - they seem to run a lot better on the standard airbox system.

It's not uncommon to get coil failures and there are a number of 'upgrades' to the original coils (Nology, I believe, and @t552 of this forum may be able to provide stick coils).

Genuine OEM replacement parts are often difficult to find - silencers, seats and the like are all but impossible to find new, as are the original indicators. There are, of course, loads of aftermarket cans and there's a host of repro indicators available that are passable. I've personally found that the best place for parts is Fowler's of Bristol and their mail order service is excellent.

You will probably find that the bike's handling is very much 'of its time' - it is a heavy beast and carries the weight high because of the tall engine and spine frame - but they can handle pretty well if you're used to providing the input and the suspension is in good condition.

With all of that said, there are MANY examples of these bikes covering very high mileage with extremely high reliability. Change the oil frequently, have the valve clearances checked/maintained to schedule, try to use non-ethanol fuel if you can find it and keep the rear suspension linkages greased and clean.

My Street Triple would run rings around any of the T3s I own - all day and every day - but it will never have that indefinable 'character', that silky, snarling growl that oozes out of the T3's exhausts when it's wound on with a purpose.

    Enjoy it and cherish it!

It’s a 93 with 20,000 miles on her. I found her on Facebook market place and the chap selling was so helpful!

The sprag clutch has actually already done which is great! A few people had mentioned it was a weak spot so glad it’s been done!

Thanks for all the other pointers!!

I heard the red ones are more susceptible to these issues…

    Urban myth, Cyborgot, urban myth.

The red ones are faster, handle better, last longer and are worth much more because the paint is more expensive.

    Or so I've heard .......... :p
