Not another plastic tank thread!? Afraid so folks, so I've got a t595 and the tank has blistered around the filler and along the bottom left of the tank and around the sump to the point it was dripping petrol. I've sealed the inside of the tank, so happy that no more is going to come through. My question is can I go ahead and repaint the exterior of the tank and it not bubble again or since the petrol has seeped into the plastic of the tank is it just going to bubble again? My thought was if it is just going to go again I'll get a leather tank bag or something and save wasting money on a paint job. I had a scan through the threads but couldn't see anything about painting them after bubbling. Thanks for any info folks
I'd get a bagster cover tbh at this point? Seems (to me anyway!) that it's going to be a constant thorn in your side and it'd probably return soonish?
That's what I was dreadi Yeah I was kinda swaying towards this, I was hoping someone maybe has a random trick for stopping future bubbleage. This might make me look like an idiot but I don't suppose anyone has any thoughts on if I could take the tank back to bare plastic, give the outside a coat of tank sealer then paint over the top of that? Bit of a long shot like
Go for it. Or, possibly buy a second hand one (if you can get a good one?) Interesting to see if the plastic gets impregnated with fuel though? Pls keep us updated!
