I need to chop a few inches off the top of my screen on my 2010 America.
I plan to get my wife to produce a cardboard template of the correct shape
and to mark the line of cut as she's a craft genius.
After that am I ok to use a new fine bladed jig saw, followed by very fine sandpaper ?
Would I need any special kind of polish to finish ?
Has anyone done this before ?
It's a Triumph screen, the tall one.
    Cheers

Good idea HT about feeling the height!

@ Andy pandy, cardboard template cut folded to make symmetrical, 2"masking tape all over top of screen and draw on it from template, cut with coping saw or jigsaw with feet taped for safety 4"rubbing block with 120 grit to deburr and edges then can be left matt with compound and a rag.

When I did mine, I eyed it up then applied masking tape. I cut it with an angle grinder with a very slim cutting disc installed and finished it off with a file then sandpaper.

Thanks guys, some good ideas and tips there. Especially like the one about making your own star shaped sun glasses, far out man, cool, groovy baby.

The masking tape reply is the best one. It prevents any cracking. I did the screen on my Kawasaki Nomad like that. Then used a sanding block.

@MICK64 Unfortunately all you are doing is pushing the more recent and relevant threads further down the page meaning less people are going to see them and the OP may not get the answers they need
Luckily as the only Triumph specialist here you will be able to resurrect them in 5 years time : unamused:

@MICK64 can you reconsider your heroic intervention on the forum and then telling respected members that is it they who are the problem?

Maybe there is another Triumph forum that might appreciate your genuine helpfulness and bon homme social skills.

People have asked you to stop resurrecting old posts. You clearly have a lot to offer based upon your opinion of your knowledge. Can you possibly apply that intellect to all future posts and maybe forgive those that have apparently offended you by asking you to change your approach?
