Honda Gl1100

Bought a GL1200 weeks ago. Very interesting bike. Easier to ride than the weight would suggest.
The point to check are the carburetors. They need a careful rebuild sometime, and if the float height and sync are not properly done, the bike will seem to ride ok, but wont rev over 4000. You need to check that.
Brakes are not very efficient, that means they need to be in perfect shape to work properly on a 300 kg bike.

The weak point can be the stator. It sometime burns (and need the engine to be removed from the bike), check if it's been done before. To avoid that, clean stator connections help.

A GL is a marvelous second bike. But it's a 40 years old bike.. Most of the parts are still available.
I can rebuild mine (a later 84 model) finding everything, here and there.

To me it's way cooler than a HD. (insults and fighting rendez-vous on pm, I'll answer everyone after sorting out all free sex proposals)

 

@Hubaxe offered that a GL would be a marvelous second bike. Would this be a second bike? Or an only bike? Maybe I missed that somewhere along the way. But I don't recall what you're riding these days and it may have changed anyway during your forum absence. As you said, this bike is an unknown quantity. Forty years old and 68K on the odometer would activate my wariness glands, particularly if this was to be my only bike. Good luck with your purchase decision!
