I just fitted Weslakes to my 2016 TT1200, at first I thought they looked way too small, so I refitted one of the OE silencers, guess what,… it now looked way too big (is there a Goldilocks zone sized silencer for these bikes?). Anyway baffles out I found it a bit too loud for me, baffles in perfect for me, deeper exhaust note and maybe 10% louder than stock?, just what I wanted. £305 delivered, easy to fit, although the RH one was a bit more of a struggle to get the right angle, I’d put this down to manufacturing tolerances in both the bike and the Weslake. I’ll get them polished to look like the rest of the chrome exhaust, currently they are lightly brushed, and I’ll probably paint the baffles black. But all in all I’m pleased with them. The bike feels much quicker on pick up, however I’d put this down to the fact that I’ve been out on my 1975 CB750 SOHC all afternoon prior to hopping on the Thruxton! PS for the weight freaks amongst us the Weslakes weigh 1.3 kilos each and the OE silencers weighed 2.9 kilos each (but if you’re into light weight why buy a Triumph?).
I've got them and think they sound about right with the baffles in. I really like the shorter look. Mine came polished, very happy with them, did lose a baffle once so make sure you use a bit of thread lock on the miniscule amount of thread you have in the first place.
I emailed them and was told they didn’t have polished ones, oh well, the local polisher will do them for £20, yes I’ve already thread locked them, one didn’t have a spring washer on it, it does now, actually I might polish them myself, the brushing is minimal so they should come up easily with a mop, definitely sound better.
Mine came on the bike new from Jack Lilleys, maybe they polished them, I just assumed they came brushed or polished.
Polished them, about 20 minutes per side and blacked out the baffles, much prefer them shiny, I’ll take them to the polishers to get them finished perfectly but my efforts will do for now, two more benefits I’ve found are I can now get the bike past my other bikes in the garage easier because it’s narrower and I can also get at the suspension adjusters easily.
I've been meaning to black out the baffles, did you just mask it up in place and use some heat resistant paint?
Yes, masked up the cone with tape and surrounding parts with newspaper, then used heat resistant aerosol, then removed the masking and wiped around the edge of the cone with kitchen roll with some brake cleaner on it to tidy the edge where the masking tape hadn’t quite reached the edge.
Yes I’ve got them too, good choice Think they look just right at that length and good value. No idea what they sound like with baffles in though
