Hi, I tried this in the tyre section but didn't get any response, so trying here as well. Can anyone suggest a good place for ride in tyre replacement around the Bucks area? My Thruxton S is due a new rear tyre, Pirelli Angel GT, and the Triumph garages are all quoting well over £200. However, Flitwick motorcycles did come in at £143. Cheers
You can probably get it cheaper when is on a loose wheel which might explain the price difference? £143 isn't terrible for a loose wheel and even better for a ride in-ride out service. Tyre is £110 ish and half hr labour so when you add disposal charge too, £143 is ok imho and a good price for ride in.
Hi, Both are ride in prices. I think Flitwick have a good reputation as well, were once a Triumph dealer, I bought a new Speed Triple off them in around 2003 I think.
TonyG PDQ Do fitting if you purchase the tyres there. But by Taplow station if you take new tyres they will change them to loose wheels and are very reasonable. As you come out of Taplow Station turn left to the main road straight across the road in the side street and on the left. They just did my 900 even masked up his machine as he didn't want to dirty or damage my wheels and he is a moto crosser as well so nearly in the family. He kept saying to me nice wheels got to keep them clean. Joe.
Thanks Joe, Do they do a ride in service if you buy the tryre from them? Went for a ride to Woburn Triumph today and they quoted around £157, ride in, fitted, which is the best by far from a Triumph dealer. So, that's from £143 up to £250, one garage said an hours labour.
Don't know if you have Protyre dealer near you I use one at Winchester Micheldever tyres they charge £15 for a loose wheel and £30 ride in ride out.Prices are usually cheaper than buying online then getting tyre fitted.
Thanks, just looked them up and they come in at £133, can't tell if that is loose wheel or ride in, loose I suspect. I'm tempted to go for Woburn Triumph, simply because I think I'd have more comeback if they scratch the wheel, but that's probably me being paranoid.
Personally I would change from the angels, they have quite a shallow profile which slows down “tip in”, you can see the sharper profile in the photo, I have fitted Pirelli Diablo’s to my TT1200 and it has greatly improved the handling, Demon tweeks frequently have them on offer, I think I paid £58 for the front and £68 for the rear, any independent motorcycle shop will then fit them for you. They are now doing them as a package for £119 including VAT but postage will be on top of that, superb tyres at a bargain price, mine when they arrived were 18 months old looking at the manufacture date on the tyres. https://www.demon-tweeks.com/uk/pirelli-diablo-motorcycle-tyre-package-2003075/
Must admit I hadn't thought about changing from the Pirelli Angels, I've been happy with them but I definitely agree about the 'tip in' being a bit slow, you do have to make quite an effort to initially lean in. Cheers
Hi Joe, I've decided to get my front tyre replaced as well and after the disappointing experience with the Triumph dealer I've decided to try PDQ. They gave me a good quote, will do a ride in service, and are only about 10 miles away from me. Booked in for tomorrow afternoon, I'll let you know how it goes. Cheers.
TonyG PDQ is in my opinion one of the best around. May not be the cheapest but their work is quality. Let them do the work the boss there does not like people telling him what is what but a genuine bloke. He actually designed a lot of the bits for the vmax and raced them. But i just though there is also the motorcycle shack in Woburn Green they do ride in I'm sure and are really good. But i still opt for PDQ. Joe
I would heartily recommend PDQ. I asked them to be careful with the rims and they were, he even tried to remove the old rim weight adhesive for me. Very good service, genuine guys, and at a decent price. Will definitely use again. Cheers.
I have just had a set of road pilot 4’s on my tiger. The tyres were £250 and the fitting was £45 so a total of £295. I think the angel gt’s were slightly more expensive .
Ride in fitting to the bike was about £155, which was at the better end of the range of quotes I got.
Holy mackerel!, shame your not in the Derby area, for those that are go to Racing Lines on Alfreton Rd, ride in is £25 per wheel or if you take a loose wheel in it’s £15 including balancing and disposal of the old tyre, they have a pro tyre fitting machine so there’s zero chance of rim damage, if you’ve ever watched one in operation you’ll see that the tools on the machine cannot contact the rim, that’s not to take away from Rob and his employees, they always treat your bike as if it were their own. PS if you break it down re time taken I guess they are charging more than £150 an hour for that service , I can’t see how they can justify that.
