Given that there is a big England football game on tonight and I live in England I quite fancy going for a hack tonight on quiet streets. I don't hate football, but I do prefer rugby, and riding!

I would rather ride on two flat tyres in freezing rain wearing nothing but my shreddies than watch ballfoot :p

Had to go to the supermarket this evening - timed it just right as it was deserted! Shame I didn't have time for a ride too...

Bunch of miserable cocks. We've now advanced further than France, Scotland and Germany, who we knocked out today , from here anything else is a bonus. Get in!!! :grinning:

I was going to say something funny but it may have offended members from those delightful countries.

Buns to them. Seeing France go out on penalties rounded off my Scottish tour nicely :grinning:, and I get home to see England do Germany. This is a rare occurrence, go along for the ride :)

It certainly wouldn't have offended me. My interest in football can only be expressed as a minus value.

Finished work at 17.00, quick cup of coffee and was on the bike and away by
17.45. Roads here in Germany were pretty quiet. Wouldn't walk 6 feet to
    watch a game of football.

It seems like not to many of us on here are football fans. I can only throw my hat into that ring too. I haven't watched a full match (on TV) since I was a teenager and I've only ever been to 2 matches (at the ground) in my life. Covid has thrown a big spanner in the works of all sports, but pre Covid, if a family guy wanted to take his (say 2) kids to a Premiership game, assuming they lived close to the ground and travel costs weren't an issue, by the time he'd bought tickets, say a burger or two for the kids and drinks etc. I doubt there'd be any change out of £100. Not forgetting the kids would probably be wearing the latest club shirts costing a small fortune too. A big departure from those days in the 40's and 50's when a working class guy would go to a game after working Saturday morning. I think the professional game of football has lost touch with many of the spectators it would have previously attracted.

Money tends to ruin most things. That said, looking at modern bikes and their often eye watering price tags, you wouldn't call biking a working class thing either. :)

My daughter lives in UK and works in an Aussie bar.
Yesterday for the football game, a young famous actor popped in the bar with a band of friends, and after a while was asked to leave because he and friends mixed too much with other tables :grinning::grinning:

Here in the US all sporting events preempt anything else on TV. As far as I am concerned, such things as football, baseball, basketball, golf, etc. are like watching paint dry. You can hang around until it is over, OR you can go find something productive or entertaining to do. When you come back the results will be the same. Only thing MORE boring is people who TALK about sports all the time ! ...J.D.

I'll throw my hat in with @Smilinjack . I love the beautiful game and have been supporting England for years. Seeing them demolish the Germans was a joy and one to savour. I hope they can go all the way, but even if they don't they will have done brilliantly. For all you non football fans enjoy what ever floats your boat :):)
