Tomorrow morning (Saturday 6/26) our little MC group will head out for the big summer road trip we had planned for summer of 2020 but had to cancel. There are seven of us going and we are eagerly anticipating a wonderful "Four Corners Trip" as Mr. Sandi is calling it. It's the "Four Corners" because we'll hit northern Arizona, northern New Mexico, the southwestern part of Colorado, and a corner of Utah over eight days and seven nights. The "Four Corners" is the place in the US where Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, and Colorado converge.

Along with our anticipation, however, we are also going into this tour with some trepidation. There are currently 14 active wildfires in Arizona and we will have to carefully monitor fires and road closures now along with the usual daily checks on temperature, precipitation, and wind. We already changed Day #1 a week or so ago to a new route. But now that new route is closed and Plan A is back in force as those roads have reopened. I'm sure we will see some devastating landscape as we make our way north past the aftermath of what is called The Telegraph Fire near Globe, Arizona. Depending on fire containment near Flagstaff and Payson, we may have to reconfigure our last two days--both routes and hotel.

Mr. Sandi and I are close to being completely packed and prepared. Preparation this time 'round included figuring out a dog and house sitter for our new boxer, Ellie. We're a bit nervous about that but we do have some reliable folks who have our (and Ellie's) backs. But our fingers are crossed we're hopeful that all will go smoothly. It will be an adventure no matter what! :grinning:

I love this luggage that sits on the back of my saddle. I can fit so much in it if I pack efficiently. For this trip it contains a pair of chaps, a rain suit (yes, there's rain in the forecast), multiple pair of gloves for all weather occasions, an extra pair of Rokker riding jeans, all my riding socks and undies, a think zip-front polar fleece jacket liner, a wind resistant pullover, and a pair of sneakers to walk around in at our destinations. :) Regular clothes (in Eagle Creek "Pack-It" Cubes) and other miscellaneous things go into my two roomy saddlebags.

I'm not going to spend much time online while we're touring but I am going to keep a log of fun and interesting things that we encounter each day along with lots of photos. :) When we return home I'll start a thread about our "Four Corners" adventures and post day-by-day accounts for those of you who are interested in following our trip. Stay tuned and I'll see you soon!!!:sun::kissing_heart:

Hi Sandi, wow great preparation, here’s a tip though if you’d taken the car it would’ve been far easier to pack and a more comfortable journey, also if you didn’t do the journey at all you could’ve just relaxed……what do you mean I’m missing the point??? :)

Hey Sandi (and Mr. T.!!). That trip looks wonderful (and wonderfully familiar!) though it sounds from our news that the weather is going to be a bit of a challenge for you all - hope nobody is intending to take an air cooled machine!

Having travelled pretty much every mile of that route on a motorcycle at some time, I KNOW that you are going to see some of the best scenery that the west has to offer so, if the heat isn't too oppressive, you can't fail to enjoy. Are you going to try to get the Silverton to Durango railroad ride? Indeed, is it still running?

Which way round are you going - clock wise or anti (counter) -clockwise? Not that it matters much, just curious.

Anyhoooooooo ..... have the safest and most enjoyable of rides. Don't forget to pack the neck coolers!

Have fun; be safe; send pics! ;-)

I'm so jealous. ! In our tiny and seriously overcrowded Island there are few places where you aren't joining a traffic queue when you go for a ride . I crossed the states in a car but find myself yearning for wide open spaces on a motorcycle.

You are stars. I can't wait for the new book. Those bikes look great and yearning to hit the road. Here we are dodging the showers and floods and cold again. Can I come and live with you. Promise I won't steal Ellie's bed. Have a great trip and enjoy every moment of it.
    Love & Hugs.

Hi, everyone! Just a quick message to say thanks to all of you for your well wishes and encouraging comments about our trip! We are currently in Durango, Colorado and preparing to do the “million dollar highway”. We go over two passes that are over 11,000 feet and another that’s about 10,000 feet. I will definitely have tons to share upon our return! Lots of adventures!
