Hi everyone having just found this site I decided to join. As for the sorry part of the title its an apology as I currently ride a Bmw 1200GS I know I know but I just need to be honest.
That said I have owned numerous Triumphs over the years.
My first one was a 69 Bonneville which was a year old when I brought it. There followed a Bloor Trident, Trophy, Daytona and I traded a 1050 Tiger in for my current bike so I have a good understanding of the reliability of Triumph motorcycles then.
In fact it was something that Bruno T said in the conference room to a group of us on a factory visit when I brought the Trident about he wanted a Triumph to match Honda for quality that I later decided to go over to Honda bikes.

My last Triumph the Tiger 1050 was a great bike but I liked the idea of having a shaft drive and couldn't afford an explorer so I brought the GS instead. And its worth adding that I got a good resale value on it as well.ging
So why am I on her then !. Well I am getting that changing the bike hitch again and I really fancy buying a late Trophy.
Sadly its not going to be easy though as I am now retired and on a fixed income and because my wife no longer comes out with me on the bike the one I own is apparently my last one. Mind you I have owned a few since she first said that to me so who knows.
On a more personal level I have been a motorcyclist since 1967 and I should add am still learning how to ride properly and my interests are Irish Road Racing , IOM TT, Touring.
I am also one of those silly motorcyclists that will wave at any other motorcyclist whether they are on the latest machine old hack or carrying L plates. Sadly there seem to be fewer and fewer who wave back.
If and when I do get lucky and buy a Trophy I will let you all know.

Hi Tigerted and welcome. If you are interested I traded my 2013 trophy at Bill Smiths last week for my new shiny thunderbird, might be worth giving them a call.

Hello Tigerted welcome to the forum.

I've a few things in common with you, I started riding in 1966 and love my road racing especially the 'racing between the hedges'. I've got 3 trips booked to the IOM this year:cool:
Unfortunately Mrs Tiglet doesn't venture out on the pillion much these days but never stops me from going anywhere.
Good to see you describe yourself as a 'motorcyclist' that's what I am.
I've not joined this 'biker' club thing;):):)

But what is it with Bmw riders? I live near an independent parts supplier in Meltham and often see lads on various aged bmws going to and fro but never ever let on! Are they just not bikers??

Is it a Yuppie thing? or because Da police Use/Used Them..... Or are they like the Germans and have no humour ..... or are they so far up there own **** That us mere mortals on "OTHER" bikes are not good enough. ( No offence Tigerted) Or are we being too hard on them and should just except their bad choice of bike ? You Decide :oops::(;):D

I do notice that the Bm riders forum is very unfriendly compared to our 'family'!!

I nod at every bike - even scooters .
I figure that if you're on two wheels then we're all taking the same risks.
Not sure I could signal out one group (ie. BMW riders) as not being friendly - I've been ignored by Triumph riders in the past!

I'm a waver as well, sometimes I get waved back other times no.

I work on the basis that maybe they - the non wavers - weren't loved enough as children.
