Because they believe that the road rules don't apply to them once the lycra goes on. Rule 66 of the highway code states they should not ride more than two abreast and ride in single file on narrow or busy roads. Rule 68 states they should not ride in a manner that is dangerous, careless or inconsiderate to other road users. But equally as annoying are the drivers who, quite rightly, follow said *ankers at a safe distance (all in favour) but fail to pass them when the opportunity arises, the most common example being in a solid white line system where it is perfectly safe, and lawful, to cross the lines in order to pass *ankers. *rant over, fruit for breakfast*
