Got a route planned for tomorrow as it's the first time we can travel anywhere in Scotland in what seems ages. I'll be leaving about 9am. at waypoint number three instead of going over the Connel Bridge there is a little loop that I've never done before.

I'm hoping to get up there on the Z for a run round in the not too distant future. Might even have 2 or 3 days camping at Loch Lomond if the camp sites aren't already booked up!

That'll be a great day out, Dougie! I reckon I've done most of it, except your "loop". Have fun mate!

Beautiful Country - "been there done that" or some of it anyway!. Many years ago, about 1982! We were on our shiny new red Honda CX500B - two up, newly married etc. from Newcastle area. I remember chasing a solo Yamaha XJ650 (but as I said we were two up & loaded for bear). Main stops were Boat of Garten for Cairngorms then another caravan at Glencoe village almost on Loch Leven - nice country for tootling around. IIRC we had climbing boots , cags (for snow sliding) etc. Did a few mountain climbs in Glencoe - Bidean Nam Bean-lost valley and Anoch Eagah ridge (sorry cant remember the names :worried:) ....then the climbers pub in Glencoe -
Thanks for stirring up some memories! Take every side road you find!

P.S. I worked for the company that also owned the aluminium smelters in Kinlochleven and Lochaber. The Scottish Six Day Trials (or something similar) used to be held in this area (?) Don't forget the Whiskey Tours.....after riding of course!
P.P.S. Never had GPS in those days just looked at the odd map or followed our noses. Can you still camp in the "wild" up there ….we did, many times!
PPPPPPSSSS (!) Also went up to Inverness, Loch Ness and at sometime we went way up into the NW - fantastic (if you want to get away from it all)

Fantastic to get a decent run on the bike, first stop of the day was at the Green Welly in Tyndrum for a coffee from my flask as there were still no takeaways open, it's the 26th April before that will happen..in Scotland anyway. If i had been on my own i would have stopped at Loch Tay for a few photos as the water was like a mirror and with the reflections of the mountains it looked beautiful. there were loads of other views i would have stopped for a photo if I'd been on my own as conditions were ideal
i was surprised there weren't more bikes parked up at the Green Welly there was only about 12 when we left

We then took the A85 Oban Rd to Connel where we crossed over the Connel Bridge onto the A828 i was thinking the little loop was there but it's actually further up at the bridge crossing Loch Creran ,it's a great wee loop it reminded me a bit of the Kinlochleven loop only shorter.
View of Loch Creran from the loop

we stopped of at the viewpoint to Castle Stalker which was shown in Monty Python and the Holy Grail

It was a brilliant day on some of my favourite roads, the roads for the whole route from start to finish were great
