The Mk1 Speed Triple was probably the first of the Hinckley Triumphs to get almost universal acclaim, with well-sorted adjustable front and rear suspension, Nissin brakes and its unmistakable (for the time quite original) cafe racer stance. It was the first real factory cafe racer, and a bit of a cult classic as a result.

Here I am selling one of the first ones off the line, from May 1994, L Reg, with the original 5 speeds (6th is there in the box, but unselectable).
I have known this particular bike from new, it was bought from Fowlers in Bristol by a mate of mine. He sold it to another mate of mine in April 1998, and I became the third keeper from new in July 1998. It has been mine ever since.

If I am honest, I liked the idea of it more than actually riding it, I now realise a cafe racer was never really my type of bike, and I have not used it much at all.
I have put more miles on my Bonneville Scrambler in the last 2 years than I have on the Speed Triple in the last 10.

I have bought a bit of a project (1953 Land Rover Series One), so the Speed Triple is being sold to fund that.

It has a totally genuine 14000 miles from new. It was at 12000 miles back in 2006, go ahead and check the MOT history online (Reg L986WHT). Less than 500 miles a year.

This bike has had new tyres and chain/sprocket, and a new fork seal or two, but otherwise remains standard and unmodified apart form the addition of a smoked glass flyscreen, which helps settle out helmet buffeting. Even the pipes are original.

It has been kept in a dry garage, but not loved and polished on a regular basis, so the chrome around the headlight is a little spotted, and I have painted the bottom caps on the clocks black from the standard chrome as they corroded. Not surprising for a 27 year old bike.
    The horns also got repainted.

This one was not sold with a seat hump, it never had one, and is (instead) fitted with the cissy bar that it was originally supplied with.

The bike was dropped once, and the LHS rear body panel has a small section cracked off the rear (by the tail light), and the tail light itself has a section missing at the top inside the bodywork. Both parts are readily available

I have had the bike re-commissioned (at a cost of £300) with a total carb clean to avoid the problems with old fuel gumming them up and not working properly.
It now works a treat and has totally fresh fuel in the system, and 12 months of MOT with no advisories.

I should point out that there has also been some spalling of the black coating from the rear wheel, due to shallow corrosion of the alloy underneath.

So it is ready to ride, but also ready to be loved and improved. If you did so it wouldn't take much money or time to make one of the very best Speed Triples in the country.
    Your choice.

These bikes are appreciating classics, and there may be one or two only in the country as unused and original as this.

It comes with all the original paperwork, including the owners handbook, delivery sheet, old tax discs, and the 2 original keys.

I want £4k for it, but will entertain close offers. There is currently one for sale at a bit less with 3 times the mileage and one for a lot more with twice the mileage.

This one is very original, exceptionally low mileage and relatively cheap. Because I acknowledge the condition is not perfect.

One photo as a teaser, PM me if you're interested. The bike and I are in Bristol.
    Dave

Good luck with the sale, Dave. I'm sure you'll have some regrets seeing the bike go but, with luck, it will go to another owner who willl appreciate its history and originality.

BTW - for any interested buyer, the seat cowl/cover/hump is available to order as a kit from Fowlers (or, I assume, another Triumph main dealer/parts supplier of your choice) BUT the 'bum pad' is no longer available, unfortunately. Even Sprint Mfg. no longer seem to be doing them following production quality issues.

I'd personally like to explore possible suppliers so if anyone knows of a local manufacturer that could make/supply a firm foam, pattern imprinted pad with captured screw thread eyes ..... get in touch. :)

Good luck Dave, I live in Spain, if you were here you would already have it sold. I have one to rebuild, but I wouldn't mind having two, like friend Adie.

    Regards
    Joaquin

Not sure if this will help but I ordered a seat cover for my Intruder that you have to staple on yourself. I added a bit of extra padding and it came out better than stock. They may be able to make a cover for you but you would have to figure out the seat pan and padding, unless you have a pan that is waiting for a new cover. https://www.ebay.com/itm/SUZUKI-VS7...709598?hash=item342982605e:g:AB8AAOSw0uRZa55R

This is still for sale, although I have not really concentrated on promoting it.
