I’ve had notification of mine. First one is in a couple of weeks and the second one mid June, both with AstraZeneca. Finally!!!
It's not entirely sure I'll get it, they've invited a hundred, but apparently there's always no-shows. So if enough drop out I'll get mine. AstraZeneca as well.
Nice to hear about the great progress in vaccinating people in the UK, you guys are doing well. Will be interesting to see what solution that is being brought out when we need to travel and show proof of having had the jabs. Sweden is lagging behind but since there is a shortage of vaccine its not much to do.
Don't count your chickens just yet. It would seem that one or two EU countries just can't seem to make their minds up about the AZ jab.
I was asked today if I was willing to take the jab with AZ if there were no-shows, Andy. So it would seem there are no qualms here.
I'm still on the fence - they keep saying that the vaccine is not effective on the new varients - correct me if I'm wrong as I'm no doctor just an engineer.
I think we're all in the dark to some extent, mate. But if there's even the slightest chance this vaccine is going to protect me, I'll take it...
My main fear is that my wife has had 2 thrombosis and double pneumonia- taking the vaccine could make her really ill
FWIW both of my sons are in no doubt that a vaccine, whoever the manufacturer, is a good thing. I think the EU and Macron in particular have played politics with AZ, to the detriment of our friends in Europe. The blood clot issue doesn't really stand up to mathematical analysis, given the sample size of injections administered. You might find that more people have been knocked down by a bus after the AZ jab, for argument's sake. As has been said "if you want a blood clot, get Covid"
As far as the alleged AZ/blood clot link is concerned, I think it's a case of the 'post hoc ergo propter hoc' fallacy. Anyway, I'm very happy to be getting my second AZ jab in a couple of weeks.
Here's a "they" that recently posted a good article discussing this very topic, @stollydriver. I found it quite helpful. It's not as simple as the vaccine being effective or not effective on the new variants. "Covid ActNow" is U.S. based organization so be aware of that. But I think even if you're from elsewhere this article contains a lot of informative and helpful information. https://covidactnow.org/covid-explained/covid-variants-vaccines Get to this particular article though the link above.
Will I get my jab after all. This is the latest news from the Netherlands. The Netherlands is again suspending use of the AstraZeneca coronavirus vaccine following reports of serious thrombosis-related side effects, the health ministry said on Friday. Use of the vaccine for the under-60s is being halted up to and including April 7 while the health assessment council looks again at the data, the ministry said. On Friday, side effects monitoring group Lareb said that one Dutch woman has died after being given the AstraZeneca vaccine, although no link has yet been shown between her symptoms and the jab. The woman had a lung embolism and a cerebral haemorrhage, Lareb said. In total, Lareb has had five reports of thrombosis seven to 10 days after the AstraZeneca injection, all involving women aged 25 to 65. In total, some 400,000 people were given the AstraZeneca vaccine during the period the problems were reported. The Netherlands also stopped using the vaccine for a period last month when there were earlier concerns about thrombosis, but started using it again when the European Medicines Agency said the vaccine is both safe and effective. Schedule The decision to suspend use of the vaccine is a further blow to the Dutch vaccination campaign which is running behind schedule. The health ministry estimates that 2.6 million doses of vaccine have now been administered since the campaign started in January. Some 13.3 million people in the Netherlands are eligible to be vaccinated. Health minister Hugo de Jonge has said every adult in the country who wants to be vaccinated will have had at least one dose by the beginning of July. Read more at DutchNews.nl:
So far there have been 30 cases after 18,000,000 vaccinations, I suspect there have been more pregnancies shortly after the jab but not sure that can be proved either
Got my first jab yesterday. Get the next in twenty one days. At work in the last week we have had 10 confirmed cases from employees. Last night I received a text from my supervisor that he s now positive. At no time have any of us gotten any kind of official notification from our employer about possible exposures, what to do, etc. They want to keep it hush so as to not scare away a dollar. They have halfassed cleaned anything for weeks, clean the break room once a day in the morning, and refuse to ask customers to wear masks even though there is a mandate in our area. This is a multi million dollar corporation showing how much they give a damn about their employees. Thank you, Lowe’s home improvement, for killing your employees. As soon as I find other employment at a small business again, f#ck you. Sorry for the rant, I’m a bit irritated at the moment. Just my luck I’ll get sick before I can get the full vaccine.
Had l fallen pregnant after my jab it may have raised a few medical eyebrows l guess. Would have been a double miracle for that matter. Anyway, moving swiftly on....
