    Hi Dave, I’ve just had a look at my bike. Embarrassed to say my practical experience is limited, but I think I make up a little of that in enthusiasm! May I ask please:-
    1. Is removing the gear selector just a case of undoing the small bolt;
    2 Would you possibly be able to share the dimensions of the nylon spacer you specified when ordering on Amazon. No probs of not possible.

    Yes Paul, just slacken (or maybe remove) the clamp bolt and the lever can then be pulled off the shaft. I can't remember exactly, but I think there are splines on the shaft, so make a note (maybe take a side-on photo) before you do so, so that, when you put it back, it goes on at the right angle. I'm sorry, but I haven't kept a note of the dimensions of the spacer, so you'll have to measure. I used calipers to get the shaft diameter.

    No need to be embarrassed, we all have to start somewhere.
    Yes, it's Dave49 that should be able to give the spacer dimensions..in fact I was thinking of asking the same question.
    To remove the gear selector you are correct in that you just have to remove that small bolt. Try to make sure the gear lever is in it's original position before you retighten the bolt. Maybe take a couple of photos.

    Another way to make sure the gear lever is returned to it's original position is to put a dot of paint, nail varnish, Tippex or similar on the end of the shaft, close to it's edge, and an adjacent one on the lever. Make sure the two line up when you put the lever back on the shaft.
    If that doesn't make sense stick with the photo option :D
