    Hi all

I'm still very new to bikes and have a lot to learn with regards to various engine components etc so please be patient :)

I went for a mildly spirited ride this evening and then once I went home I noticed a leak coming from the left side of the engine

As I said I am unfamiliar with the 'technical' names for parts so not really sure what I am looking at here...the leak was considerably worse however I wiped off the residue to see if it built back up again and it did over the course of about 15 minutes of riding, it doesnt seem to be leaking when the bike is switched off but I could be wrong.

If anyone has or can point me in the direction of a Haynes manual for a D600 that would really help

Can anyone give a novice some pointers, many thanks in advance :)

That's understandable half ton, its hard to get close enough pics with the fairings on. I tried taking them off before realising I have lost my 5mm allen key

It looks to be originating from the switch but until I get the fairing off I cant be sure as it could just be gathering around the switch and then dripping down the crankcase (I'm learning haha) once I locate my allen key and get the fairing off for a proper look I'll report back ;-)

Ok had a closer look, got the fairing off...just to start, when the winter rolls in I'm stripping the bike and giving it a dam good clean!!!

I couldnt pin point a source for the leak due to the level of shit covering the engine, I've cleaned it up a bit so will run it tomorrow and then see where the leak leads.

My first possibility is the rocker cover gasket so I'll see what tomorrow brings and whether I'm right or not :)

Also if you put some talc or similar around where you think the leak is, it stops it spreading so you have a better idea of its exact source

Thanks guys, will need a good couple of hours to clean the engine so might be the weekend job whilst the mrs is having her hair done.

There was definitely a gathering of oil on top of the crankcase but I'm confident that isnt the source
