Wow, @Fork Lock, your wife sounds amazing! :grinning: And it sounds like it turned out to be a great decision to opt for the knee replacement.. Good for her for staying awake through the surgery. Very brave of her plus she wound up with a great, and I'm sure quite vivid, story to tell.

I was given the choice whether to be awake or not for this second surgery. I wasn't offered that option for the original fracture repair (not sure what that says about that surgery!) I usually have a pretty strong constitution--and stomach--but have to admit that I'm glad I chose to sleep through my surgery last week. As those forum members who know me know, I'm not big on tools--power or otherwise--to begin with. ;):joy:

Been out of circulation for a while @Sandi T so missed your second operation. Really pleased to see it has gone well and you are on the road to recovery. Not be long before you can ride again

I can definitely out do you on gross jewellery.

This is a picture of a slither of my tibia.

Just realised that this is the first time in 25 years I have taken it off!

Crikey Sandi, I didn’t realize you had all that metal inside you. Let’s hope you heal up (again) and can get back to riding very soon. Best wishes

Yikes Sandy that’s serious hardware. I hope you recover soon.
I feel your pain, I’ve been dealing with an injury that’s keeping me off my bike too

Wow, that's AWESOME, @Cyborgbot! Much better than my metal-only ideas. But....I don't really want to have the bone slither to be an option. It definitely is impressive. And just as much--or even more--impressive that you've not taken it off in 25 years! :)

Thanks, @BonnieCat! I didn't quite realize it, either, even after seeing my x-rays. But seeing that plate and those screws laid out on the countertop, especially that l-o-n-g one, made it a lot more real.

Thanks for your well wishes! I'm hoping to be back riding quite soon. It will certainly be sooner than the first surgery go-round. I hope that you've been able to get out for some riding in spite of winter and Covid. :sun::)

Washing down your apple fritters with a double Redbreast? You're my kind of woman, Sandi...

Hate to ask but what caused your cycling mishap? I'm an avid cyclist myself and I'd hate to see you give it up - lets face it the cycling keeps us in shape and makes our two-wheeled motoring all the more enjoyable.

Best wishes for a complete and speedy recovery!

Well, David, I do tend to go for the apple fritters in the morning and the Redbreast in the evening. ;):joy: Although I do suspect they would complement each other. :yum

My bicycle accident was just stupidity on my part. And lack of attention. I’ve raced bicycles for decades but was just out for a little toodle with my hubby. We were chatting and I wasn’t being mindful and hit his rear wheel and went down hard. Smashed my elbow to bits and broke my pelvis to add to the mess. That’ll teach me to not pay attention to what I’m doing on two wheels! I do agree with you that riding bicycles does make me appreciate my motorcycles all the more to be fit for motorcycling as well.

Thanks for your well wishes! I think this time around I’ll be back on my motorcycles—and bicycle—MUCH more quickly than the first time. Thank goodness! :):kissing_heart:
