Ok guy's I'm beat, managed to get a picture into my avatar; how do you insert a picture into a post?

While you are writing your post, there are 3 'buttons' - "Post Reply, Upload a File and More Options".

If you select "Upload a file" it will open a box which allows you to choose where the picture is on your computer, then select "Open".

The picture will download then you will be asked "Insert: Thumbnail or Full Image". Put your cursor where you want the picture to be inserted then select Full Image.

Et voilà:
