Just picked up a 2020 Tiger 900 GT Pro. I temporarily disconnected the battery during installing a hardwire for a GPS unit. After I turned the bike on I received warning messages on the TFT. First the service indicator appeared. I can understand this as the clock/ date needed to be reset so the bike did not think service was due. Solved that issue. However a warning displays regarding the TES electronic suspension system and shows a “shock coil indicator “ on the dash only while in road mode. The coil light does not show up under the the other ride modes like rain, off road etc. I have cycled the ignition several times with the bike both resting on the side stand and center stand. The system still works and actively elevates the bike as one switches from one preload setting to another despite the warning light. I checked the ECU and found no service codes recorded. Any thoughts before I take I to the dealer?
I used Dealer tool to run diagnostic but again, no codes listed. Even did an instrument reset through the tool with no change.
If you are asking how I wired the GPS power lead it was directly to the battery. So far the dealer is stating it is Triumph’s position that any time the battery is disconnected the electronic suspension will throw error messages and require a dealer reset. I will continue to dispute this.
I ran into the same exact situation with my 2021 GT Pro. I have disconnected the battery to add heated gear and immediately "TES System Error" started appearing. I have tried the same things too with leaving the engine running for a few minutes with center stand on. TES system functions properly, as you mentioned. I was going to call the local dealer to see if they can reset it.
try to go into the bike setup display and disengage the TES. Turn the bike off. Then go back and engage the TES. Someone on another forum reported success. Please let us know if this works.
Thank you for the information. I have just noticed that thread too and tried it with no success. I have disabled TES and the error appeared again after turning it back on
Bummer. I contacted Triumph customer service but was told they do not have technicians there and to follow up with a dealer. Kind of a catch 22 round robin if you know what I mean. I think the only way to have this addressed is if triumph has to keep paying for warranty service enough times for them to take notice.
I spoke with the dealer and was told the same thing that TES system fault is expected anytime battery is disconnected. They quoted $30 to reset it. I found another way to reset it though. The warning message disappeared with "Reset to defaults". It did reset some of the custom settings too, but it wasn't difficult to set those again.

Unfortunately if the battery leads are disconnected and then re connected the TES fault will show, all modern Triumphs will show one code or another once the battery terminals have been disconnected. I know hindsight is wonderful but what you needed to do was, remove the battery positive bolt whilst holding tension on the leads, then place the live wire for the GPS in the bolt and re connect, then do the same for the negative side. It's a doddle and no faults appear on the dash. Your only options are either the Dealer tool or take it to your nearest dealer. I have used a compact power pack for years that I just attach the clips to the battery terminals with continuity of power to the machine, it's also handy to pop under the seat in case any fellow bikers requires a jump start. I hope you get it sorted soon.
I fell into the same trap, took mine to my local dealer and he could not sort it in the 30 minutes we had before they finished for the day. I would have to leave the bike with them while I was on holiday... Just seen the post by GWMotley and did the "Reset to Defaults" and bingo the fault was gone. Cheers!!
Hi Just to say thanks for the info here. I just fitted an optimate charge lead to my 2021 gt pro and had the same errors. Followed the reset and all is now perfect. Thanks again Saved me a trip to the Dealership.
Does anyone know if a similar thing happens if the battery is disconnected on the Rally Pro? I’m picking mine up on the 1st March and will need to wire in both my sat nav and battery charging lead. The Rally Pro doesn’t have electronic suspension.
Triumph replaced the rear shock on my 2020 Tiger 900 GT Pro (under warranty) due to this TES System Fault. I experienced the above Electronic System Suspension Error after disconnecting my smart charger. I had the bike checked out by two separate Triumph dealers, and both agreed the shock needed replacement. They both talked with Triumph, and Triumph agreed/authorized the replacement. A new shock was ordered/replaced under warranty. It took about six weeks for a new shock to arrive. Prior to the shock being replaced, I disconnected the mode link, and the TES warning went away. The bike appeared to operate normally as long I manually reset the preload and rebound (via the TFT) to match the riding mode I wanted to use. It was a bit annoying, but workable. - Later, I took this one step further and reset the bike to factory settings - and then reentered my preferences. Once I did this, I was able to fully reengage the mode link without receiving a TES system fault. Everything "seemed" fine, but there were indications that underlying issues still existed (e.g., the predetermined suspension settings on the suspension tray sometimes darkened in to show the current setting, and sometimes they did not). This was brought to Triumph's attention, and they determined a new shock was still needed. As a side note, my bike never gave out any fault codes. The only indication of the problem was the TES system warning and failure of the mode link. Bottom line: If your dealer is just resetting your system, they may unintentionally be doing you wrong. If they want to charge you to reset it under warranty, I recommend a new dealer. I hope this helps with the issue. Good luck.
I have the same problem now and I have tuneECU. Clearing the error isn't possible with TuneECU unfortunatly.
