Hi everyone, new here! Owned a lot of pre 70 triumphs. Bought this 95 thunderbird because looked new & only 169 miles on it !! Changed fluids, new battery, removed plugs to crank with no compression & get fluids moving. Won’t crank, just clicks & spinning noise. Jacked up rear tire, put in gear & still can’t turn over motor! Put penetrating oil in plug holes letting it soak. How can I try turning over motor without starter or rear wheel ??? Thanks for any advice
Can you take off a crank cover ( probably right side but not sure left or right side) and whack a socket on the nut and turn it with the plugs out? Probably easiest way but are you sure that it's not actually seized up? Do you know any history of it?
All I know is I have the original title it was bought with 1 mile on the clock. The owner stored it with several other bikes and passed away and I just bought bought it with 169 original miles on it. Looks new does not look abused at all it was just parked since 96. I believe I do need to take a side cover off and put a wrench on the end of the crank. Not sure which side though. Thanks so much for your help. Also with the rear wheel off the ground in high gear it will not turn.
Cannot figure out how to turn the crank without the starter ???? Left side cover has no nut to turn. Left side only has but holding ignition rotor in place. Can’t put enough torque on that !!! Any advice please ??? Thanks
Is the starter engaging ? These bike are well known for sprag clutch issues . When you say it clicks and just spins it sounds like the starter isn't engaging?
