Just had some Conti road attack 3s fitted to the Thruxton 900. 110/80 & a 150/70 rear. So far very impressed.

I know its ten months old this thread but I was wondering if you were still happy with the Contis?

I had chanced my tyres on my 900 Thruxton for Avon Road Runners .If I was honest they are not has good has the tyres I had before .I always replace the tyres with the same make that Triumph fitted when I brought the Thruxton new in 2013 .I think they were Pirelli laser or something like that .I now want to go go go back to those tyres but not sure what they where .Anyone tell me what Triumph fitted to the 900 Thruxton when they where new

I have just found out they where but Meltzer Laser but Meltzer do not make them anymore and do not show an alternative .So cam anyone recommend a good tyre for my 2013 Triumph Thruxton ?

I got a Lasertec rear for my Thruxton last Autumn to match the one on the front, but I didn't realise Metzeler no longer made them, so I guess it's NOS.

Not sure what is going on .I went on the Meltzer site ,put in Triumph Thruxton 900 and the result came up " No Match " .Tonight I have gone on the Meltzer site put in Lasertec and they have come up >so they still do them

Hi Chris. I rang my local tyre fitters and gave them the size details of the tyre I wanted. They asked me what was on the front and rang me back about half an hour later to say they could get the matching Metzeler rear, so I just went ahead and bought it. Don't quote me, but I think it cost about £95 fitted and balanced to a loose wheel.

It seems there must be a cliché on there web site .They still do the Lasertec tyres .So that is what I will go with. Do not know why I changed to Avon road runner .They are not has good has the Lasertec tyre

Burned a lot of those on my BMW in the 90s (180 000 km, yes , a lot of tyres).
Those were really good at the time but were designed in the 80s.
Don't know id Metzeler upgrade the make, but new rubber compound are much better nowadays.

They do seem to suit the 900 Thruxton, It depends of course on how you ride and I do tend to bimble around on mine these days and enjoy the view from the saddle rather than explore the limits of adhesion available. I'm lucky enough to have other more sports orientated bikes if I want to do that. If you ride the bike harder than someone like me I'm sure there are better (read stickier) options out there, but for a combination of longevity and safe, but not spectacular road riding. I find they are hard to beat for the price.

Hi, I was about to do the same (change the stock Metzelers) and wondered if anyone has had experience or opinion with Pirelli PHANTOM sportscomp found on the latest Bonneville. The rear is a 150/70/17 though??
    Thoughts?
    Thanks,Rob
