Howdy y'all, yes it's me, I'm back again. Looking for some advice on my clutch. I just remove the old plates and steels only to find out I cannot tell the difference between the inner and outermost plates? I looked at the ones I bought from EBC (sitting in oil) but could also not tell a difference in them. I checked width, diameters, tab sizes, internal diameter, the pads all look uniform and equal. Can anyone help me out? Do I need different inner friction plates to the outer ones and if so, what am I looking for? The new ones I bought were the EBC CK5599
On the 1050 set, 2 of the plates are thicker than the others. These were for the inner and outer. You also need to put the steel plates in the correct order. 2 different sizes 1,5 mm, and 2mm. It's maybe the same on the 955?
So for my two pennies, does anyone know the correct order of the varying sized steel plates...I’ve bought a second-hand single-spring clutch for my T595 and, whilst everything came nicely ziplocked together, it would be a comfort to be able to check before fitting. And, David, if it helps I’ve read that the plates you are referring to are different in that they are black between the ‘pads,’ rather than silver?
I don’t suppose you know the order of the steel plates, do you, Hubaxe? On the parts list it only lists one size...part no: T1170714...I’m a little confused?
Hi, I know the order for the 1050. If you have the same number of plates 5 thin / 4 thick it's maybe the same? Here it is: From back to front: 1,6mm / 1,6mm / 2mm / 2mm / 2mm / 2mm / 1,6mm / 1,6mm / 1,6mm Hope this helps
Many thanks, Hubaxe, great information! I’ve just checked out the parts list for the 1050 and that does actually list the two separate plates, whereas the 595/955 et al. only lists the one, which reassures and answers my question I think! Have a great weekend, Stuart
Thanks all, I also double-double checked my plates and discs, all the same, so it seems that this wasn't the case for the 99-01 955i either. I'll update my build page and let you know how it goes when put back together. Thanks all and stay safe out there
