Speed Triple 1200 Rs - The Revolution Is Coming

It does look a bit weird, this must be a bit of a photoshop job I'd say.
As it is in the picture the handlebar would almost be in the way.

 

Probably looks low(er) because the forks are under almost total compression bringing the headlight unit very close to the front mudguard.

Still looks pretty hokey, though.

 

well spotted, didn't see that the forks were almost fully compressed.

 

Perhaps its to disguise the silhouette.

 

What puzzles me is how the test rider in the MCN "spy shots" of the new RS, is also the same guy riding the new BMW?

 

Weird.

 

Could it be a suspension test or tyres or brakes
Something that’s common to both bikes and the tester works for one of those manufacturers and not Triumph or BMW

 

Could be its like these new car adverts where they overlay the image on to a background for the pics.



P.S. I like the placement of the footrests on the BMW.

As someone on this forum earlier explained, this testing on both bikes was for EURO 5 regulations probably...

 

Ah, good spot... Looking at it more closely is does look like a mock up, I initially thought he was caught partway through putting his foot down, but I suspect not at the full gas suggested by his throttle hand!

Agree, you can see a box (data recording?) behind the pillion footrest in the BMW shot and a similar one in the pillion seat area in the Speed shot.
The BMW one looks like he's just pulling away judging by his foot position and throttle hand.
The Speed one, he's obviously hard on the brakes looking at the forks.

 

Yup agreed, and this image explains the foot/footrest position, our man must've been testing launch/anti wheelie control!

Judging from the pictures it doesn't look like it will have an active suspension such as the Tuono or the S1000R has.

 

Improving on the current Speed RS is hard to do. There’s gonna be MORE?

It’s like saying there’s going to be a brighter sun, or a fancier Neuschwanstein Castle, or stickier Gorilla tape, or a tastier French Laundry.

 

I hope they haven’t gone looking for power and put all the HP at the top of the Rev range. What makes the current bike so good is it’s usability on the road. It’s got GRUNT ...!

 

I do hope they have improved a few things....especially after trying out a Tuono a few months ago.

* Suspension (that's from someone who owns an speed S without Öhlins tho)
* More HP, the Tuono puts a bigger smile on my lips in terms of power.
* A little bit better quality on details.

Aside from that I prob won't get a new Triumph until the dealer network improves in Sweden, its nice to have somewhere to get it serviced or whenever there is a recall.
