I’ve been thinking about removing the baffles on my arrow slip ons, but after listening to a comparison on you tube I don’t really hear much difference in sound. It’s maybe a tad deeper sound but that could be my imagination, what do folk think? Also would I have to get it remapped if I did take them out?
Out on both of my S3s and love it, 30k miles between the two and they are fine. If you have the correct map for the pipes you don't need to remap to remove the baffles.I remapped the first bike, in fact Rosners did it for free the second bike is the R so came with the cans. Remember though don't go out on hot days or ride up any hills or your bike will go dangerously lean.....riding in the rain could make it go rich so maybe it's best left in the shed.
Ran mine from new for the couple of months with them out, but found the popping and banging a bit tiring on long runs. Settled now for baffles in, but cut down by about 3". Nice deep sound and less intrusive popping.
Running mine with baffles out with map 20521 at the moment. Only criticism I have is that I feel the throttle is a tad more sensitive coming off a closed throttle compared with running the standard cans and map (20656). My main reason for running without the db killers is it sounds great (without being over loud)...but according to Triumph you also only get the 3PS power gain when they're removed. IMO they are official Triumph accessories advertised to be used in that way with the correct map so personally have no concerns regarding running lean (see the official Triumph magazine article I posted in my previous ramblings in the Running in without baffles thread). As always it's a personal decision, each to their own. You can always refit them if you change your mind!
I all honesty I could do with it being a bit louder, I ride in central London and have always found a loud pipe is a good tool for giving people a gentile nudge to get out the way.
Dougie You can re map it yourself with the Tuneecu interface from https://www.lonelec.co.uk/index.php?main_page=index . It takes a bit of setting up on your laptop and you need to follow the driver instructions to the letter. There is a specific Triumph high level Arrows map which suits baffles in or out. Mark
Out on mine, never tried them in.....was delivered that way by the dealership when I bought it. have to agree with 771jrp, I've found a quick 'blip' on the throttle to be more useful that using the horn on a few occasions!
Can you take baffles out on the full sytem low boy? Sounds plenty loud but, hey, I might give it a bash and REALLY piss my neighbours off.
+1, really can't see triumph selling a pair of cans and not setting the bike up to be able to run fine on them. There just slip on end cans, not a full system. Took standard restrictive heavyweight can off my gixxer and fitted the tiniest straight through underbelly can you could hope to find. It was so short that with no baffle it was TOO LOUD, and after 20 miles my ears would start to bleed, so had to run with baffle in. Always ran fine in or out. As I put on another post, you will never get a true reflection of the sound on Youtube, waste of time anybody doing it. They don't have the correct recording equiptment, and you probably don't have the amp or speakers on your pc / laptop to replicate the real sound.
Absolutely, I have tried it on my Vlogs! THe only thing you can do is illustrate a difference but it never gets it across. The best way to see exhausts is at a specific Bike meet where you will almost certainly get a wide variety of bikers with different exhaust systems.
Hi WB, although the end can does look very similar construction to my twin highs I seem to remember reading somewhere that the baffle is not designed to be removed on the low boy. Obviously with your full system dispensing with the cat and only one can I'm guessing its louder than the highs anyway. On the twin highs there's an obvious screw on the lip next to the exit pipe with a small tack weld, just Dremel the tack and removing the screw allows the baffles to be pulled out (and are listed separately as item 5 here). Not so for your low boy, the "db killers" are not listed here.
