I've noticed some really nice photos round the forum, clearly we have some folks that are handy with a camera! With so much free time his year I've been getting into photography, thought I would just try this thread to see how it goes.
Just for nice pictures you have taken, does not have to be bike related since there are loads of other threads for that. Landscape, Street, Abstract, whatever... Here's one I got this morning during a nice walk down the beach :)

Nice Andy - I liked the way this one turned out in Brighton earlier this year. 20200813_201345.jpg

Nice idea for a thread. How about some nature in black & white?

Very nice, I like the minimalistic theme and B&W adds to it :)

Caught sauntering through the grounds here at Trev Towers recently. (Caught on camera that is, not physically captured if you were wondering).

Oh just the flash on an IPhone... ......oh and the fact that the church is lit up like a monument at night . The full moon also looked great . Amazing what iPhones can do !

    Off an iPhone!!!! Outstanding mate

Seperate Cameras really are becoming redundant

I wondered whether you had a timed exposure and were running around with a seperate flash gun:)

    :joy:
More likely to be running around like a flasher than with a flash gun :joy: . Just a great scene with good assisting lighting and a clear night sky. Iphones are amazing I agree .

Cameras in phones today are class, no doubt about it! Theres a lot of digital processing going on in them too. They are able to produce a very nicely processed picture. As good as they are, they are limited by the size of the sensor. A 'proper camera' will always have the edge I reckon but on the likes of a digital screen, where phones are optimised, you'd be hard pushed to tell the difference!

I have been very pleasantly surprised with prints from iPhones up to 12 x 10

Noise seems to be the big problem with smaller sensors but digital printing techniques can take most of this away

If you want to use the whole range of focal lengths available and produce large prints I can see the need for a dedicated camera

But for those of us that like to take the odd scene or family shot phone cameras are one of the marvels of the modern age

As they say the best camera is the one your carrying!

PS I recently sold off my dishrag camera gear because I don’t like carrying it around everywhere......

I know what you mean. I downgraded from a Cannon DSLR setup earlier this year to a mirrorless Sony APS-C, and although it is a lot lighter and the IQ is astonishing you don't notice compared to my elderly compact unless you pixel peep or really crop in. I bought my wife a 1 inch sensor Lumix TZ100 for Chrimbo and I'm looking forward to comparing images over 2021 before I decide on keeping my Sony or downsizing again.

For now I'll have fun with my ILC regardless, as long as the weather plays ball.
