    Hi everyone, Iam new to this forum, my name is Mark and I live on the edge of the peak district in Derbyshire. I ride a 95 triumph tiger, this is my 3rd tiger and I think they are the dogs wotsits.can anyone help, I won't to replace the oil seal behind the front sprocket, look easy enough just pry out the old one one replace. But someone has put doubt in my head and said that it's an engine strip job. If it's a engine strip, I don't won't to start prying the old one out only to find I've got to strip the lot.     Hi Mark and welcome to the forum. What does the workshop manual say about the seal? All the output/sprocket shaft seals I've come across have been external push fit designs. I changed the one on the Husaberg just last year. If you can pry it out I'd say you can push a new one in.

    I’ve known of some oil seals that have been removed by screwing two self tappers opposite to each other into the face of the offending oil seal.
    Then hold each protruding self tapping screw with pliers/mole grips and pull/wiggle,with luck the oil seal may come out.

    That's the way I did the seal on the Berg. If you can't get behind the seal with a removal tool ie., when the shaft is still insitu, it's pretty much the only way to do it. If it turns out that the crank cases do have to be split, that's a bad design IMO.

    Hi Colin, a fellow Steamer owner, not far from you and always in the Peaks. I tinker with mine too so let me know how you get on. Just spent weeks rebuilding the carbs, fixing a bodged repair to and fuel proof lining the tank. Next itmem is to change the chain slider.
