    Yes I know tis a bit early but finally got one of these. One of the old Kenwood Mixers circa 1960.
    Had a modern one but the chasiss was crap and mixing Christmas cakes almost broke it. These older ones with heavy aluminium chasiss can handle making the thicker cakes. But why is it after making a cake the best bit is still licking the bowl out ? Just finished my Chritsmas cake and now feeding it Rum up and till Christmas
    Ps I need to get out more IMGP7367.JPG

    hahahahhaahh.:):):):joy::joy:

    Heres mine.:cool:

    IMG_20201207_193909683.jpg

    She's a we dancer.:grinning::grinning::)
    I got her with loads of accessories, second hand, from a guy at work, she had been sitting unused for years, in the back of the garage under a sheet.:rolleyes:
    I sold everything except the liquidizer, they were snapped up on eBay, ( quicker than anything Ive ever sold). Made enough to cover the cost of the machine.
    Went to make my first cake and it blew up.
    On to youtube and eBay and got it going cleaned regreased, and painted.
    :p Shes quick, loads of torque, stable at high speeds and Ive had her fully loaded for long periods and she never even turned a hair, and reasonably economical.:joy::joy::joy::joy:
    I will never sell her.:no_mouth:

    Got a Kitchen Aid Artisan myself, cost a few hundred quid but solid.
    Feels like it would mix concrete.

    No not ceramic. White glass, bloody heavy but you can just feel the quality Got a raised bit in the centre that makes sure that it all gets mixed. Pure magic

    No it`s the `TI` Triumph Institute, I think we should have weekly discussions on cake making. Nothing better than a slice of cake and a cuppa after a ride and that`s Gospel

    Blimey, I never knew you could get Christmas cake mixers. My deprived childhood.

    My mum used to get me to mix them with a wooden spoon in one of those big mustard coloured ceramic bowls. She'd start making them in October and would be drizzling brandy in every week. till Christmas. Same with the puddings. Probably half a dozen of each to share with family and friends. To be fair she made the mince pies all by herself.

    Child labour that is. Did she at least let you lick the bowl out afterwards ?

    Taking inspiration from this thread and the never ending cookery programmes that that are on television these days such as The Great British Bake Off :)
    I thought I’d get myself into the kitchen and give it a go :confused:
    Having done some research on google and YouTube I thought I’d better learn to crawl before I walk :confused:
    And here it is :eek:
    My VERY FIRST EVER attempt at a slice of toast :yum
    I have to say I’ve taken to this cooking malarkey like a duck to water :cool:
    Absolutely chuffed to bits with the results although I did find the first bite a little bit dry for my tastes :confused:
    Then wor lass (clever she is) said if I put some margarine on the toast then that will take some of the dryness away making it a bit more palatable :)
    WOW:eek: she’s right again :kissing_heart:
    Hope you like the picture :) 5220BED2-01A5-4705-8982-026863E2E030.jpeg Tomorrow I’m gonna look into that cold box thing in the kitchen and see if I can find a packet of fried egg thingy’s :)
    Have to do some more research first though :p

    Clearly you need to move with the times and become a "modern man".
    Over the years i have observed many things in the kitchen that are handy.
    Oven~ great for heating crankcases and other metal things when dropping in a new bearing.
    Freezer~ great for chilling bearings for above.
    Dishwasher~ great for cleaning crankcases, heads ect ect.
    Heaty up ring on top of oven~ great for boil in the tin chain grease.

    All of the above are best done when the memsaab is OUT, otherwise she will expect to see you using these white-goods on a regular basis. :worried:
