Has Anyone Else Tried Changing Their Avatar

I've been trying to change my avatar for several days now. I click on "change file", find the file, then when I click on "open file" I just get that black rectangle appearing in the top right of the screen with a smaller white rectangle moving from left to right within it. Is it just me ? Has anyone successfully changed their avatar recently ?

 

Doesn't seem to be working properly but it does seem to change.
I clicked on okay, gave it about 10 seconds of the rectangle moving then clicked on close.
When I refreshed my profile page, the updated avatar was there.

 

Changed mine a while back and it worked fine. Not tried recently though.

 

Thanks for trying it. I've tried leaving it for several minutes but it's not worked.
Suppose I'll just have to keep trying.

 

It might be the new avatar isn't suitable.
My normal avatar (which is a .gif file) doesn't work on here despite being ok on other forums.

 

As @tcbandituk says, mine was the same symptoms as his and when I exited it, it had changed.

 

Changed mine in a flash.

 

I changed mine a week or two ago, didn’t like it and changed it back. I didn’t encounter any problems.

 

Seems ok.

 

Maybe an incompatible file type or the picture is too large

 

What file types and sizes are you chaps using ?

 

You'd be safe with a .jpg/.jpeg just checked mine and its a .png I'd guess it would have to be a pretty big file to give problems. Upwards of 5mb guessing

 

I give up, i've tried jpg & gif various sizes down to 6kb.
Thing is, i've had no problem in the past.

 

Have you tried a different browser? Or rebooting your pc? Or clearing your cache?

 

Dont know then Andy, it must be some other issue. Might be worth trying it on a different internet browser, Firefox for example. or even try clearing your cache on the browser your using.

 

Tried all them. Even tried going to the local "Old Fashioned Sweet Shop" and buying some Spanish in the shape of Pipes (the smoking variety), all to no avail.

Well shiver me timbers, e bye gum, i've just downloaded my original avatar off t'internet and that one worked. Can't really see any difference between the two files. Both jpg's, similar size, same permissions. ?????
