I know it's not a music forum, but in some recent threads I noticed a few members of the community were chatting around guitars. If some wants to share around their axe of choice we can maybe do that there. Please remind English is not my first language I may sometime mix words. I play guitar since I was 14. Started left hand playing on right hand guitar (yes like some gypsies). Then after a while decided I'll play regular right hand way. Lived from music around 18 for a couple of years, then decided I was too hungry and started other jobs. My current main guitar is a Fender Stratocaster American Serie bought in 2011 in Illinois I own around 20 I guess. Sometime I still play a telecaster japan (1990), my beloved Les Paul Deluxe (1979), and on a new soundgarden tribute project a Gibson SG ri61 (200?). I even build some guitars as a hobby.. none were really good enough to replace my usual ones. My main stage amp is a Marshall 1960 cab loaded with 4 Eminence speakers, topped with an Orange TH100 head. I used to play on carvin amps before (QuadX, X60A) . Still have them for rehearsal, recording but they are too old to be reliable now. And yes there was a time I had long hair (now only a souvenir)
Sure it's still music. My son is a drummer and this year could join a school to become pro musician. I ear drum everyday.. Sunday included..
I started playing about 13 years ago as part of a mid-life crisis, you know the works (doing all the things I should have done when much younger ). I have three guitars, a Fender Strat, a nylon-strung Spanish guitar and a Faith Jupiter Jumbo. Can’t pretend I ever got any good, but I enjoyed strumming along to some classic songs. I’m currently teaching myself piano with the aid of a great website, Pianote, which I’d highly recommend. It certainly gets the grey matter working, that’s for sure.
There are huge differences between the time I learned guitar and now. We started to pick up songs from rpm, or tapes, both worn quickly. and the major difference, is now those b..y kids have internet. You want to learn piano, play along with video, guitar, the same , etc etc. I'm very active in the local scene, and help raising bands, organize open stage etc, and I'm blow away by the level these kids aquire is 10 X less time we did.

Been playing geetar and singing since I was 14, semi-pro Cover dance band till I was about 30 and then marriage/kids got in the way, and realising fame and fortune had passed me by. Started again for my own enjoyment at 40 and then acquired a few musical mates so we now have a group of 4; drums, 2 guitars and bass, we got ot rehearsal studio nearly every week and play thank you gigs for family, friends, Charities etc. Our Rocking set list runs from Cream/Who up to Foo Fighters, bit of Lizzy, Bryan Adams whatever songs take our fancy. Avergae age is 62 ish bass player is baby of group Drummer is over 70 and still tasty!! But other than jumping on the bike its the best fun you can have without involving a woman
You suddenly reminded me of a couple of concerts in Dundee circa 1973 with Barclay James Harvest and Wishbone Ash. Like Hubaxe I used to have hair - lots of it
Barclay James Harvest, I was at my mates one day. He had a drum set, he actually played in a local brass band. I had a guitar. We were bashing out a tune one day at his house. When we stopped playing, we heard people from next door banging on the wall. I said to my mate "who the feck lives next door ?", He said "some pillocks that think they are something just cos they play in a group, they're shit". It turned out they were BJH. A year or so later my Dad remarried. His new wife was Melvin Pritchards Aunte, the drummer in BJH.
