Saw this. Now....from the outset i'm not advocating dancing around on your bike like a silly bugger but the dialogue struck a chord with me, this year probably more than others. 'those little pockets, those little moments of peace'

cleverly done video or self indulgent claptrap?....i'll leave you to decide.....

Truth stated in a cheesy way, IMO.

I was enjoying the video and the dialog up to the point when he stood up on the bike, it then became very boring. Definitely some truth in the words 'those little pockets, those little moments of peace'

Nutter. Enjoyed the video and the philosophy behind it, though.

"Those little pockets, those little moments of peace" is a huge part of why I ride. I've shared with many non-riders who ask why I ride that riding a motorcycle puts me squarely "in the moment" and makes me feel that like is ok. :) The only other activity that I do that provides me a similar frame of mind is scuba diving. And I can ride far more often than I can dive.

Standing up and "surfing" on my motorcycle, however, certainly would NOT provide me with any peace! ;):p

My riding is a very selfish and extremely self indulgent. I get a kick from speed and acceleration and enjoy learning learning to be a better rider, to my own standards. That means being able to smoothly go from one place to another and arrive in one piece having enjoyed the ride for the scenery. I’m lucky because roads with little traffic are nearby and Northumberland and its neighbouring counties have some beautiful areas to ride through. My wish is to have more time for each ride and spend more time at my destination.

But would I enjoy riding the bike on that clip? It looks really uncomfortable so I’m not surprised he started seat surfing. I’d also get pissed off with my jacket flapping. And that poor fuel tank, I hope he cleaned the soles of his boots.

I went back to riding after a 15 years hiatus.
A bad disease put me down for 2 years. As soon as I was fit again my wife decided me to buy a motorcycle again (she didn't had to push a lot).

To answer the post question: I ride to feel more alive than ever, and have this sensation at every single ride.

I ride more on the track because I enjoy the thrill of going fast, the feeling when you are fired up with adrenaline, and afterwards thinking where you could have been better or braver. o_O

Edit: I would blame it on booze, but I haven't had anything to drink. Not sure what is going on with my system. Other people's thread replies aren't showing until after I post, and now my posts are ending up in the wrong threads. Must be gremlins, or early onset Alzheimer's.

I want to get a corbin for my scrambler 1200, but not with the corbin logo on the side. I have sent several inquiries to them asking if they are willing to make a seat without the logo stitched into it, but they have not responded In my experience bad pre-sales support is usually a sign that post sales support will be unbearably bad, so I am holding out for someone else to make a nice seat for the scrambler 1200.

Hmmmmm.....the "little pockets" and "little moments of peace" is a bit deep for me if I'm honest. I ride purely because I enjoy it and I can forget about virtually everything else while doing so, It's that simple. Some days it's a long cross country run on the Z, the next ride might be kicking some dust or mudplugging on the dirtbike or, just lately, a bit of general hooning around on the Street Scrambler. Each to his/her own of course.

At any rate, he right on about living in the now. The past is over and bricks in your foundation, the future is not for you to see. Standing on the bike is pure allegory: flying above, freedom, breaking free of our earthly bounds. It is a poem in music and light.

    However, live now!
“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink, or about your body, what you will wear.

Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Look at the birds in the sky; they do not sow or reap, they gather nothing into barns, yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are not you more important than they?

Can any of you by worrying add a single moment to your life-span?

Why are you anxious about clothes? Learn from the way the wild flowers grow. They do not work or spin. But I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was clothed like one of them.
If God so clothes the grass of the field, which grows today and is thrown into the fire tomorrow, will he not much more provide for you, O you of little faith?
So do not worry and say, ‘What are we to eat?’ or ‘What are we to drink?’ or ‘What are we to wear?’
All these things the pagans seek. Your heavenly Father knows that you need them all.
But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be given you besides.
Do not worry about tomorrow; tomorrow will take care of itself. Sufficient for a day is its own evil."
    Matthew 6, 25-34
