Out for a sunny Autumn ride , heading for the 3500 mile Mark on my TFC, Coming to a stop light..try to downshift ....NOTHING , Luckily I was only going about 35 and managed to safely pull off and as Luck would have it into a Car repair place . Very friendly , they asked if I was OK . I checked the bike and the linkage rod had come loose from the shift pedal . They were kind enough to lend me a wrench and I was able to make the repair and get home.. I'll be hitting it with some blue loctite tomorrow .. To make the morning even more fun , when I went to zip up , my jacket zipper failed ... Home safe in the sunshine .. time for a cold one

This is a VERY common thing it seems with all triumphs ! I had the same with the speed rs and i've seen on the forum that is happening on everything. It seems that if they unwind out alot, they snap off. As you say, loctite is your friend..
WHAT !!!! .... thank goodness you are ok and managed to sort a ‘get you home‘ repair. Not what you need or expect from a TFC machine from Triumph ... am quite shocked.
When it rains, it pours, as they say. Glad you're ok. The zipper failed on one of my favorite leather jackets and it cost me $40 to get replaced -worth it to repair a jacket I've had for 20 years and paid $260 for. It's tough to replace good old worn-in leather.
I put a little hemp oil on the zipper when I got home and it's working ..somewhat . I've had them replaced before , and they always were better.
Good to got it sorted, i did both our speed twins the day we picked them up. Just had a warranty letter from Triumph a few weeks ago after owning the bikes for over a year about the recall lol
I never take my bikes for a dealer service unless they are still in warranty or there’s a really good reason (like it also needs a map update or safety recall), why?, because very often they don’t do the checks they are supposed to and just charge you £150 ish to change the oil!, how do I know?, well I took my Thruxton 1200 for a service a couple of weeks ago because it has missed a map update and sidestand spring recall, a few days after I got it back from the “service” I took the front callipers off to remove the front wheel for a tyre change, all 4 calliper bolts were just nipped up, to approx 5Nm, pathetic!.
