Can't wait till next march to cancell the subscription. It's now in the dust bin.
Ten grand for an FS1E. Really? Nostalgia is a wonderful thing, but I've seen at least two of the above advertised for £9995 in recent weeks. Well good luck to the seller I say if they can find a mu...err buyer at that price, but lets just look at that for a moment. Presumably a 'buyer' would be someone who owned one back in the mid 70's and now has money to burn on getting one of these that they had back in the day? Well, if you've got plenty of spare cash burning a hole in your pocket then why not?, but what the hell are you going to do with it once you've bought it? Keep it for another ten years and hope its worth £15k by then? Ride it? Jeez, that teenage kid you were back then will probably have added several pounds (weight) to your frame (I'm being polite there) and you might if you are lucky reach the heady heights of 35 mph on your new acquisition. I bet its bloody purgatory to go further than 10 or 15 miles on one these days, so where the hell are you going to go on it? Down to the local bikers watering hole perhaps to sit there drinking your coffee whilst bikers of similar vintage to yourself walk past going "Nice 'ped mate. I used to have one just like that." Is it me thats going mad or what? Don't get me wrong, I like old bikes, I've had several 70's machines over the past few years. Very recently I sold a CB550 Honda, it was in very nice nick though I say so myself, but I didn't get anywhere near £10k for it and being a 550cc machine it could easily keep up with modern traffic which I don't think a FS1E or any sports moped of the era could. Would you pay £10k for a 45 year old moped? Perhaps you have got one? I bet you didn't pay £10k for it though. I'm bloody sure I wouldn't. End of rant.
Same applies to cars...........always had a hankering to go back to a Mini (the early Mini's) or Ford Consul with bench seats and column gear change but.....wait a minute, the mini was loud and cramped, sliding windows leaked and the 'felts' green with mould, could see the ground through holes in the floor, pain in the arse if the spider drive needed replacing. The Ford, heavy, you could have wipers on or accelerate but not do both at the same time (wipers operated off inlet manifold vacuum), handling was lethal. So why the hankering.........I suppose the smells and sights evoke places and happy times and first leaps to freedom. Would I get them now......sod off !!
From even further back in history............... Just think if you'd bought 50 of them with your ten grand back then????????
didn't want a Fizzy back in 76 certainly wouldn't want one now.... must be a niche market, hardly the thing for down the pub..." I ride a motorbike."......" oh what bike have you got ?? "........." well i'm the proud owner of a moped.... " doesn't bear thinking about
Look at these idiots. I'd like to think that we're (british) a bit better than this but there's (IMHO) a few nut jobs about https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/thousands-anti-lockdown-protesters-chant-22746234
Wife and I arrived home last night to find a large package of toilet rolls at our back door. It was huge with at least six packs of nine rolls. The address including the street name were totally not ours, but for the high street in the local town over a mile away. How do these toe rags get away with delivering in the wrong place..
The Amazon couriers always take a photo of the parcel in your doorway, they even do it when you are stood at the door because they can't take signatures anymore.
