Meh... Only kidding, some folk are meant to be together... I found my lass and it sounds like you’ve found yours! It’s just your back story could be part of a book or film. Have a bloody good partnership. Thanks for sharing...
Now you've got there Wayne @Havit , make the most of it. I'm sure you will. All the very best to both of you.
It's so nice to hear a story with a truly happy ending. True love is never lost. Live long and prosper. Together.
No he got away with it , . I never see his face , Donna did , she looked Streight at him before he hit us, he had a moustache, shoulder length hair and a light coloured roll neck jumper, that's how clear she see him . The car was a complete write off so he wasn't going anywhere in the car , so he did a runner, as I mentioned in my story he got a taxi and got drunk and reported his car stolen, The police spoke to my mum and said what he had done , he said don't have any sympathy for him as when we said we know it was you , he laughed and said prove it . We had witnesses like the taxi driver , and some people at a bus stop , also the pub landlord how lied for him say he was there all evening . The when pressured admitted that he wasn't , at an ID parade later Donna couldn't pick him out because he changed his appearance, no tash short hair and looked nothing like he did on the night , the cops said one witness withdrew his statement , They said he was got at. We think he was a grass for the.police as there was too many witnesses and he still got away with it , there was pictures of him Donna see in black and white the police showed her of him from prison photos that she picked him out but still he got away , His name was Austin Baker,. He tried to sue a local paper for slander as they named him as the driver of the car. I tell you one thing I would love to met him .....even now
Thanks for sharing the story with us all Wayne, it bought a tear to my eyes life can be amazing sometimes all the best to you both.
Puts alot of what is happening at the moment into perspective!! Great to hear someone has something to Smile about these days; Good luck in your new/old adventure
Thanks everyone for your lovely comments, we are in Margate today, they are racing classic bikes on the beach , but it's blowing a gale and raining , it's for die hards only i think. In McDonald's defrosting . Remembering the time we were here and I brought her a ring, and it turned her finger green .
How horrible. Hopefully some day one way or another he will receive justice, @Havit, even if you never know about it. I just can't fathom how someone can commit a hit and run like this. And in the case of Austin Baker it seems he had accomplices, too. It simply boggles my mind that someone could flee the scene of an accident like yours. And that others would cover for him. A similar thing happened to a former cycling teammate very recently. She was hit by a car about three weeks ago while out on a morning training ride. The driver left the scene and to date has not been identified. There were no witnesses. She is still in the hospital and has been in the ICU on a ventilator the entire time. She has horrific injuries--a double compound fracture in her left leg, a shattered pelvis and two broken hips, many broken ribs, a punctured lung, and possible brain damage. I think she also had damage to one of her internal organs, her spleen is what another friend told me. She has already had at least one surgery, that one to put a rod in her upper spine. Because of COVID and limited visitation time (for family only), most of us in the cycling community don't even know whether that's the full extent of her injuries or what her prognosis is. A mutual friend who's a physician to both Martha and me said she doubts whether Martha will walk again much less ride. And riding is truly Martha's life. So, Wayne, reading about Austin Baker and knowing there are Austin Bakers in the world is infuriating. But knowing the happy ending years later for Donna and you is beautiful!
Well, i split up from a girl (well, she dumped me...) for me opening up a can of coke and it fizzed up onto her dress..... Queue jokes..... But, i'm ok now as it was 1985, at the school disco and i've literally no idea where rachel wardy, 50, turnbull close, walpole st andrew is now.... Or, if she's divorced since 2018 in august .... Only joking!!!!!!! I'm over it...... Never think about it....
Very sad story Sandi, it's any parents nightmare for somthing like this to happen to their child. No matter how old they are. All you can hope is that the Austin Bakers of this world get what they deserve.
@Havit, well pleased for you True that the wheel sometimes does turn full circle and present you with a second chance. Errr... Do the forum massive get an invite to the wedding shindig? And vindication for faecesbook too, maybe it does have a use after all
Brilliant Wayne all the best with rekindling your love as Lenon said love is all you need Just hope you've confessed to your former life as Gloria
I hope Austin Baker is rodgered senseless with a length of knotted rope And has a hedgehog inserted anally backwards
As everyone else has already said, great to hear that you and your lady have been brought back together after all the years and everything you have been through. Nice to hear a little happiness falling into lives in these turbulent times. Don't worry about Mr Baker, he may have thought he was teflon and had little care for lives he ruined but I believe that Hell is real and, if he hasn't already reached there, he surely will and he will spend all time until time itself ends learning what real pain is.
