Yes, @Judd Dredd, I've been seeing something nearly every day about what's happening in the UK and am truly sorry to read that things are getting worse there again.
I've never taken one and never will -never had the flu, either. They don't work, or, more obviously, do the opposite. Since the flu vaccine has been out, the number of cases keep going up and up and up. I'll never take a corona vaccine either. BUT, I'll never say one bad word about those who do take the vaccine. It's a choice we should all be free to make.
Yes, to politicize a global public health crisis that is killing and crippling people either physically or financially or both is despicable no matter who is doing it. They should all be ashamed of themselves, MadMrB. Right now I'm Mad, too.
An interesting read and certainly adds weight to the reality of Covid-19 and it's affects on humans. But, are we to live in fear till they find a cure? IF they find a cure that is? It's a flu like symptom and we know the flu-jab is only 40% affective. If we continue, we will head into a depression, far worse than a recession and many here will remember the great depression of the 1930's We cannot live in fear, so maybe it is time to accept people will die, and we need to become accustomed to these new diseases as medication has been overused and the body cannot fight what people put in there mouths. #controversial
The virus isn’t a hunter, it doesn’t seek us out. It gets passed on as a consequence of human interaction. Its not a killer, it doesn’t plot our demise. That happens as certain unfortunate people’s bodies react in a significant way to the contagion. It’s not even appropriate to think of out-witting something that is even debatable if it’s even alive... Fortunately (and objectively), for the virus and us, it’s not particularly lethal. This means (on the bigger scale) that enough of the human population should survive cyclical infections to be able to continue living as a race/species and thereby the virus can continue infecting more people and reproducing the viral strain... if we do nothing!!! Unfortunately, for the virus, some of the human race isn’t keen on the death rate and unpleasant infection experience... and wants to try to nullify its existence. One person (you) Is probably insignificant enough to act however the hell you like and make minimal global impact. However, only by a global unity of people acting in a prescribed fashion can We significantly affect the virus. All we have to do is to agree what those actions need to be...

My take? When this thing kicked off we were being told Covid was more lethal to more people than we have since learned. It remains a very nasty virus but the age gradient and susceptibility of the mass of the population invites a more targeted approach to protecting the vulnerable. Words like ‘exponential’ are tossed around when ‘linear’ might be more accurate. The presentation of data has become suspect. Governments have assumed responsibility and are now struggling with all the political downsides when the primary agents of transmission are us. Track, test and trace is an intelligence function to identify and isolate carriers and thereby slow spread but it was social distancing that has arrested every previous pandemic before vaccination was dreamt of. The cavalry may never arrive. The target fixation on Covid is distorting a balanced view across all areas of healthcare and the economic system upon which we rely. There is some evidence of academic pride/jealousy and nervousness creeping into who enjoys the ear of Government and its largesse. We took an ill advised peace dividend in our public health services and have since hired private sector ‘help’ with zero experience and much sub-contracting to lash up a ‘solution’. It has demonstrably failed in a significant degree. Some people are getting rich. We need to accept what is water under the bridge and re-evaluate from first principles. Knowing what we now know a more targeted approach that protects according to risk and result would see a change in strategy. I actually suspect that may be in train in the UK minus the overt admission that is what is afoot.......politics and truth being what they are. Having watched this argument unfold I come down on the Pennington, Heneghan, Gupta et al side of the fence.
I went to a local biker watering hole yesterday. I queued up for my cup of tea, sticking to the black and yellow taped lines, 2m apart on the floor and went outside and sat down at a vacant trestle table. At that point my phone rang, it was my son who's had a rather bad accident recently (nothing to do with bikes I might add) he was telling me his hospital results and we were talking away whilst I noticed out of the corner of my eye another biker had sat down diagonally opposite me. He was probably less than 2m away, but what the hell, I reasoned that was just about OK. A minute or so later another guy sat down next to me. No 'Excuse me mate is this seat taken?' or anything like that. He then proceeded to talk in a loud voice to the other guy. I put the phone down, stood up and glared at him. 'Is there a problem' he said. "Yes mate" I replied, "where is the 2m gap between us? " Oh I'll move if you like' he said. I just looked at him and said I'll go myself, you stay there, rightly or wrongly I was fuming and felt it better to move away at that time. It was quite busy for mid week but there were plenty of other places to sit conforming to the 2m rule. Now the point of this is not to flame other bikers per se. This kind of flouting the rules, if you wanna call it that, goes on all over the place, but I always thought bikers were a bit more considerate. Not only did this guy not bother to ask if the seat was taken, he just dumped himself down with no regard for my social distance or his. Even before COVID, I would've asked if it was OK to sit down at the same table, yes I was on the phone but a quick point at the seat would have relayed the message in his case. This next bit shouldn't matter, but he was also older than me and I'm in my early 60's. We hear about students and youngsters at Raves having no consideration for others right now, but this guy must've been 70 odd. I expect us oldies to have more consideration, but clearly not in his case. I just wondered what you guys here think about this? Did I over react or was I right to be upset? I must admit I posted this on Facebook this morning and I got various replies from 'Stay at home you moaning old t**t to Yes mate, you did the right thing and many in between responses. I like to chat face to face with fellow bikers in normal times, but we aren't in normal times right now are we.
