    Hi Micheal, it is perfectly possible to replace the fork oil on your bike without stripping the forks.

    All you need is a spanner to remove the fork caps; a syringe with sufficient tubing attached to reach the full length of the fork leg; a wire coat hanger; and a measuring jug to collect the oil you remove, so you know how much new oil to put back in.

    So how do you do it?

    1. Remove the handlebars and set aside;

    2. Working on one FORK leg at a time - CAREFULLY remove the fork leg top and set aside;

    3. Now using the wire coat hanger, fish out the top washer, the spacer and the spring and allow to drip off into the measuring jug;

    4. Using the syringe plus tubing - or any other suction device - suck out the old oil and empty into the measuring jug. Press the forks up and down a few times to empty out any oil in the shock absorber valves and do final suck out of old oil.

    5. Put in the same quantity of new oil, replace all the components removed and replace the fork leg cap.

    6. Now do exactly the same with the other leg.

    Easy-peasy !!!!

    Just a heads up! Dave means one FORK leg at a time, knowing him he would probably try to get you hopping on one leg at a time while doing it too!
