Good afternoon all, I'm requiring help....guidance.... instruction on how I can solve a problem with my Triumph Daytona 650. not had it long purchased sunday before Bank Hol Monday hoping to go and spend the day getting back into the grove so to speak ... I drive 1 1/2 miles down the road pulled the cultch in to drop from 5th - 2nd (as I was coming to a junction) and it stalled on me and wouldn't start again!! finally bumped it thinking the battery would be shot as it's not really moved for 2 years in a guys garage. so took it for a blast.... but everytime I came to stop the engine would drop out. so far - ive bought a new battery issue still arises, and today new spark plugs problem still arises the garage I took it too were quite stumped and don't quite know whats wrong... engine management light doesn't come on either.... ARGHH someone please help me cheers LOMMY
yes starts from cold and runs ok yeh when coming to a halt pull the clutch in and i'm having to hold it at around 2k revs to keep I think it's a idelling issue reading other threads.......... any one from the midlands??

Carbed bike? Personally i would start with them, strip, clean & re-assemble. Also check all the carb rubbers to make sure there are no air leaks.
could also check the electric connections that nothing breaking down when hot but have to agree with Pig sounds like crap in the carbs
I suppose it could even be a worn idle jet/needle or whatever it is in there. It could be stalling because its too lean or idle or because its too rich. Do you have a manual choke?
Lommy your not the first and won't be the last.. Dirt in fuel filter? Loads of things it could be....Check other threads... Download TuneECU and check for faults... If its been standing the injectors could have crap on them... Personally I would cough up and take it to a dealer or specialist, otherwise you'll change everything and it may still not work... D
Totally agree with Screwball. Have you changed anything recently? Exhaust / Airfilter etc? I had a similar prob with my D600 when I put the new exhaust on, quick play about with tune ecu and it sorted it right out.
It will be one of the pipes around the idle valve, common to crack or split. Strip it down and inspect it all
While you're checking the idle valve pipes check the motor too... Take the cover off and check the movement of the plunger... Mine seemed fine could hear the motor running. Thought it would be easier to take cover off to check pipes and cover, as I did noticed plunger was not secured to anything... tried test iacv on tune-ecu and out it flew... New motor!!!
Bit of a long shot but there is a safety switch on the clutch cable i think which means it needs a pulled in clutch and in neutral to start. May be playing up, look at how much play you have on the clutch and clean the switch near the lever. I have one of these bikes and they burble at low revs its the secondary air injection to get around emmisions laws at the time. You could try a good dose of redex and then a spirited ride out, also the fuel filter in the tank.
Hi I have the same issues with my 955i speed triple there are lots of advise on this link all are beyond my techi skills I going with the guys that state put it in to a specialist I feel they are right your gonna spend a whole lot of cash replacing every moving part till you cure it
I had trouble with the Tiger cutting out, eventually it just died while sat at a set of lights, I eventually traced the problem to the clutch switch cable connector, dont know if any other Triumphs have this? the connector looked fine but the inner wire had come away just leaving the plastic shroud connected...it all ties in with ground cable that also connects to the starter solenoid.
