Here's my old 1979 GS750E. Currently in semi retirement but goes out occasionally in the summer. It's still running really well

Thanks guys. I bought it on a whim over 10 years ago. I had the engine fettled up by a local chap 2 or 3 years back and it runs really well. I just love the colours, the chrome and the general design. It's what bikes should look like (showing my age now!!!)

    28.JPG

Came to me as rolling frame and boxes of bits, hand painted in blue Hammerite
Took 2 years to get to this. Looks and rides really well.

I had a boyfriend back in the day with an 850. We went down to the south of France on it and it was super smooth and super comfortable. I don't know why Suzuki don't bring out a shaft drive touring bike. It's one thing missing from there line up. The Kettle is another bike I'd love to get hold of. I could just about squeeze one into my garage, but they are really expensive now

Thats just gorgeous. A proper bike. Apparently Suzuki took the engine design from Kawasaki and made a few changes and then brought out the GS range in the mid/late 70's

Yes and no. No room for both bikes in my garage, so a friend of mine looks after it for me. I go over now and then and give it some TLC and a Quick blast.

Yes this was the bike I really wanted but always just out of reach of my budget. You can buy one looking like new from these guys but they cost a fortune. http://www.classicbikes.co.uk

PS They also have a 1971 TR6R Tiger 650cc for sale with 230km on the clock from new.

My first European tour with my girlfriend (now wife) took us down to the south of France on the red GS850.

Whilst I quite liked the GT750 it was a gas guzzler with MPG figures in the low 20's. And being a 2 stroke you had to add oil to the fuel bill as well.

What a great site that is. I've just spent the last hour reading through some of their articles - fascinating stuff.
