I just signed up, and hope to learn about the bike i just bought. It's a 1993 Trident 900, with just under 27,000 miles on it. Cant believe how noisy these engines are. DSCF1287.JPG

It's a lot better since i wound the shock right down, and fitted the risers and bars. It crippled my bollocks before. I only rode it 20 miles before HAD to get off it. Those headlights are getting risen up to the speedo today, and powder coated.

Wow, from this photo your 27-year-old bike looks practically brand new, MICK. :) As you said in a previous post, it's immaculate!

Hi Mick. I take it you're a fan of Mr. Grant with your forum title? :)

Your bike is in great nick but I have to tell you it isn't a 'standard' Trident - it's either a Trident with Speed Triple/Daytona side panels (and a Speed Triple/Daytona seat cowl) or a Speed Triple/Daytona with a Trident fuel tank. It's more likely the former as the wheels and brakes are Trident. It's also got a handlebar conversion - a Trident would have short, individual bars clamped to the top yoke, while a Speed and Daytona would have "clip on" style bars on the stanchions. Looking at the headlamps in your second photo., however, might suggest that it's a Daytona that's had some of its clothes removed! Only a vin check with Triumph (or, perhaps TOMCC?) will reveal its true identity.

These engines do tend to sound a bit agricultural but shouldn't be too noisy - you might want to have the valve shims checked if they haven't been done for a while. Yours will be a bit noisier than most because of the open air filter and non-standard exhaust.
A good source of parts - and information - is SPRINT MFG. depending on your actual location they're probably a nice ride away from you here ......

    https://www.triumphparts.co.uk/

No matter what it was originally, it's still a T300 so it will have bags of character and should be a really nice ride. Enjoy.

I am about to spoil it's looks by fitting a rear rack. I am used to carrying everything i need, for several day's on the road. Including camping equipment. That is not going to happen with this bike i am afraid. At the moment, if i cant stuff it inside my jacket, or put it in a backpack. i cant carry it. Here's my old bike. 13920248_1045375662249624_6050103368850103958_o.jpg 1.jpg

What a great intro and great pictures. You have had all the bits i would have said. Do check those tappets. And if you want quiter refit a proper air box . But all in all you have a great bike and a classic now.
    Regards
    Joe.

I was wondering about the airbox. As on most bikes, when people fit aftermarket pipes, and filters. They usually change the jets to suit. So far, i have no response from the previous owner, regards that. Just shifted the headlights up, and fitted better indicators, today. Cant decide whether to powder coat the brackets, or not. Hi Mick, welcome to the forum and the best place for early 900 Triumphs, mine is a 93 Trophy, the second one of the same year, 130,000 miles on the first and the second bought last year with 58,000 on and now has 66,000. Keep up with servicing and they just keep going.
